Brittany

  Lee and I met when I was a Junior in high school and he was a college student. We both are members with our fire departments and I was currently the 2008-2009 Miss New Windsor Fire Prevention and I tried to go to all carnivals and talk to young kids about fire prevention. I decided to go with my best friend, Jessica, to Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department's carnival, where Jessica's cousin, Robby was a junior member. Lee and I knew of each other before all of this but not really. Robby, Jessica and I were walking around and I saw Lee and was like, "Who's that? Is that Lee?" Robby told me that it was, and that he at the time had a girlfriend. I told Robby that he was cute. A couple weeks later, Lee and I started talking and were friends and later after he broke up with his then girlfriend, he gave me a note that said, "Check Yes or No."    This instantly got my attention for one, that I was being asked out, but the fact that I am a country girl at heart and that he was using a George Strait song really attracted me to him!  I checked yes, and one of our first "dates" was to go see my Uncle Mike who lives in Ohio but came to Gettysburg, Pennsylvaia to reenact in a Civil War reenactment as Stonewall Jackson. This also meant a lot to me and I knew he was a keeper because I don't get to see my Uncle much and he didn't hesitate for one second to take me to see my Uncle Mike.  I then graduated high school and the night after my Senior Prom, Lee left to go to Ocean City, Maryland where he accepted a job offer to be a Seasonal Public Safety Aid which jump started his law enforcement career. It was hard because I didn't get to see him for a while, but we made it work, even through long distance.  When Lee and I first started dating, I also told him about some medical issues that I was born with, and when most guys ran, it drew him closer.  He told me he would do all that he could to make sure I was safe and felt good at all times. Having experience with different boyfriends before, they all had trouble accepting me and didn't do things for me in my best interest so this meant more than the world to me, that Lee was willing to sacrifice some things to make sure I was safe and healthy. I defintely knew he was a keeper then. A year, then two, then three came. We have had a blast through all of our memories together.  We recently had our four year anniversary and actually have been together now for 4 1/2 years!  I couldn't be more blessed by God for putting us into each other's paths, I wouldn't want to spend my life with anyone else. Lee is my best friend, love of my life, and soul mate!  Then on November 24, 2012, as we were getting ready to watch some TV in our bedroom before going to bed, I ran upstairs to get something. When I came down, I didn't have my glasses on and Lee was just laughing so hard. I didn't know what was so funny and was looking around to see if our cat, Annabelle, was doing something but she was no where to be found. Then, for everyone that knows me and knows I love turtles...I have a turtle pillow pet.. I looked at my spot on the bed where my pillows were, and there on top of my turtle pillow, was a Zales ring box. And I just went into complete shock and that is when my best friend asked me to be his wife! Of course I said yes.  After celebrating by calling family and friends, we went to bed with smiles on our faces and dreaming about the many years to come as we spend the rest of our lives together!
