Wedding Hair & Makeup in Des Moines

The team and environment at Salon Spa W were great to work with. Our wedding was at the Embassy downtown East Village so the location & number of stylists was the main reason I picked the salon. The event team was great to work with leading up to the wedding being very clear about service and expectation. The only two downfalls are both around price. My trail run was the same price as my hair the day of the wedding, I understand the reason they do that is so people don't come in for a 'trial' but actually do it for their wedding. Also, I would have loved to see a deal on pricing based on the number of people or amount money we were spending, with 10 of us total getting hair & makeup, even a small discount would have been appreciated. There are absolutely no downfalls on the service, my airbrush makeup and beautiful up-do held up until the end of the night. My bridesmaids were incredibly happy with their service as well. Getting ready with everyone in the same room and having them move through our large group quickly made our morning so stress free. They hire a great team and I would book them again in the future!

I LOVED my hair~!!!! The week before my wedding I didn't have a clue what I wanted for my hair. I explained some ideas to Genna and she did SUCH a GREAT job with the end product! My wedding day after getting out of the chair with my hair finished I looked into the mirror and all I could do was cry, because I so PLEASED. Thanks Gen!

Not having a regular hair stylist in DSM, I was somewhat lost for a wedding hair stylist. A few friends have recommended Blondie's to me over the years, so I reached out to Tyson about doing my wedding hair. At our consultation, we got along great and he did a good job with my haircut, so I booked him. I was fairly disappointed when I went in for my trial and he didn't remember anything we'd talked about and just did what he felt like doing. Thankfully, I had a lot of friends in town that weekend who helped me talk through what I liked and didn't like about the hairstyle, so when I went in the day of my wedding, I knew exactly what to suggest to do differently. In the end, my hair and makeup looked amazing as did the hair of my two bridal party team members who got their hair done by Tyson as well. I'd recommend the salon fully and imagine he was just having an off day the day of my trial.

Ivy does a beautiful job with makeup. She is very personable and is fun to work with. I had a great experience with her and look forward to working with her again.

Kelsi is the best of the best! I have followed her for years and as soon as I got engaged she was the first person I reached out to. Her work is always flawless and I knew I could trust her to make me look and feel beautiful on my wedding day. She did my makeup and 4 others and everyone looked beautiful and our makeup lasted all day - even in 90+ degree weather. She was on time, reliable, and had good communication. I cannot say enough great things about her! She's so talented and so wonderful to work with!!

Alissa was fantastic! With both the test run & the day of application, I felt gorgeous. She welcomed me into her home (as did her kitty), and she was great about explaining each step & finding what I was comfortable with. She highlighted my best features & did great contouring. It really was accentuating a natural look. She also did a great job with 2 bridesmaids from our bridal party and managing time to make sure everyone was set. Highly recommend!
