About

Yuko-en on the Elkhorn is overseen by a committee of volunteer Trustees under The Scott County Education and Community Foundation. Founded in partnership with Georgetown’s Sister City, Tahara, Japan, its mission is to enhance community, international friendship, the appreciation for nature, and the promotion of life long learning in the areas of the arts, culture, the environment and international relations and commerce. This garden became the Official Kentucky Japan Friendship Garden by proclamation by the Legistature of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The logo with the Japanese ideograph for friendship and a bridge represents our sister city relationship with Tahara and our mission.

Good place to have a wedding ceremony or reception or both. At the time of writing this (11/24/11) it is only $200 to rent. They do not have security so be aware that you can't just decorate and leave it because things can be stolen. Also they cannot completely close off the garden so there will be random people who show up to visit the garden. They are working on the pagoda building and it is not finished yet but they told us once it was done, they would rent it as well for an additional $100 if you want an indoor building. All in all, for the price, it is worth it.
