About

The Olmstead is a historic wedding venue in Louisville, Kentucky, located on an 81-acre site that was once home to the Masonic Homes of Kentucky. Constructed from 1925 to 1927, this venue was designed by Joseph and Joseph, an architectural firm, who arranged the plan so the building was located on the outer edge of the property. The dining hall is located at the center of the property since, way back then, it was the hub for the activities of every occupant. The plan for The Olmstead was later developed by the Olmstead Brothers firm, who specialized in preserving natural areas.

Facilities and Capacity
The Olmstead has three event spaces (ranging from indoor to uncovered outdoor) than can accommodate a maximum of 600 guests. Johnson Hall (the dining hall) sat nearly vacant from the 80s to the late 90s, but has now hosted over 1000 families in addition to the rest of The Olmstead’s facilities. Enjoy your wedding in this beautiful, historic location, complete with tree-lined driveways and two large, open, grassy areas.

Services Offered
The Olmstead provides couples with space for ceremonies and receptions, and has ample parking and wheelchair access for you and your guests. In addition to a dance floor, couples can choose from a variety of event rentals to add to their day:

Highly Recommend!

The Olmsted was nothing short of perfection for our wedding. After having planned everything with Jeri and her staff for a 220 person wedding in May 2020, we abruptly had to cancel our plans and reschedule because of COVID. We rescheduled for August 2020 and eventually had to reduce the number of guests to 50. Jeri was absolutely amazing to work with through all of this. She spent countless hours with us answering all of our questions, letting us pick an entirely new menu and bar package, and making sure our wedding was going to safe for our guests and overall COVID friendly. The day of, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They constantly made sure I had everything I needed (but not in an annoying way!) and I had many guests tell me how much they loved the bartender. This was truly the perfect venue for our wedding!

Beautiful!

We had our reception at the Olmsted a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint! It was beautiful and gave a very classy feel to the reception. I worked mostly with the event coordinator, Jeri, and she was able to capture everything that I ever wanted! She was flexible, quick to respond, and willing to meet whenever I wanted. If you're looking for a wonderful and beautiful venue with amazing food, you've found it!

Perfect...even from half a country away!

Jeri, Claire, Sherlon and the rest of the staff at The Olmsted are amazing! We planned our wedding from Colorado and we are so grateful for how flexible and helpful everyone at the Olmsted was in the process. Even from 2000 miles away Jeri and Claire could see my vision and helped me put it into action. And, as would be expected, the food was phenomenal. Trust me, you won’t find all these included services, at this reasonable a price, and delivered with such enthusiasm as you will at The Olmsted. Each staff member we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and provided a personal level of service you don’t regularly enjoy. Thank you, all of you, for a wonderfully perfect wedding experience!

We planned a wedding in Louisville while living in San Francisco. This could've been difficult, but Jeri and Donna at the Olmsted made it incredibly easy and stress-free. We had our ceremony & reception on site with photos beforehand. Jeri and Donna were phenomenal. Phenomenal. I cannot imagine planning from so far away without their help and professionalism. The day of, everything was in place and the night team was unbelievable. Food was delicious (some said best they've ever had at a wedding), staff was courteous, and the evening planner was on top of our every need. We couldn't imagine the evening going off more smoothly or successfully. Selecting the Olmsted was the first wedding decision we made as an engaged couple, and we think it might've also been the smartest. What a venue, what a staff, what a night!

If you want to have a wedding at a venue that can do it all The Olmsted is your place. Jeri Payne and Donna Shaughnessy are the Special Event Directors and they are the best as well as their staff and chef. We had the ceremony, the cocktail party and the dinner at this beautiful venue. The bride lived in San Francisco and her parents in Birmingham, Alabama so planning was a key to pulling this off. With their own chef and kitchen at the facility everything was prepared onsite. Service was impeccable and the wedding for 150 was perfect. Jeri and Donna are so nice and professional it made the experience fun and not hectic. What they did not offer they had suggestions of excellent vendors to use. They were also excellent. The Olmsted is part of Mastersons Catering and boy do they know how to stage an event. The price was very fair compared to all the other venues we checked out. This venue is as good as they get.

The Olmsted is a phenomenal venue! It is beautiful, the food is great, and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating! Jeri is amazing and went above and beyond to help me with planning all of the details of my reception. I recommend The Olmsted to anyone who is looking for a one stop shop - food, dance floor, stage/sound system, chiavari chairs, floor length table cloths...it makes everything so easy! The Olmsted helped to give me the wedding of my dreams and I could not be more thankful!

This place is beautiful!!! Jeri and her staff are wonderful and fun to work with. Our daughter's reception was everything we could imagine and more. The food was delicious and there was plenty! We loved that everything (food, tables and chairs, linens) was all handled right there. Also, you give them your vendor phone numbers and Jeri's staff coordinates the set up. No need for a coordinator, they are it!! But the bottom line is...our guests were treated so well! We had 2 guests that we didn't know were gluten intolerant. They were immediately accommodated. Now that's service!
