More Details

First, let me say congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! If you've clicked on the link to my service intentionally, I'm excited for you and your partner. Pre-marital counseling is one of the best gifts you can give to your relationship. It is an experience that brings connection, improves communication, builds trust, and ultimately strengthens your bond. If you stumbled on the link by accident - give me 5 minutes to explain why it might be something to consider, even if it's not something you were seeking out initially.

Pre-marital counseling is an intentional way to explore various topics related to marriage and committed relationships that can set up successful, supportive, and trustworthy communication fundamental to managing the ups and downs that such life-long partnerships face.

The pre-marital counseling program in my practice is one of my service offerings in my larger private clinical psychotherapy practice. Working with a licensed therapist allows couples to delve deeper into various topics in a customized 6, 9 or 12 week curriculum in a safe, supportive, therapeutic environment. Together, our initial meeting will set the stage for understanding where you are on your relationship journey, outline the topics you would like to focus on during our sessions and identify a consistent yet flexible schedule as we lead up to and possibly beyond the day you say "I do!".

From there, each session, you will leave with a one-page outline of the session, reflection questions to explore at leisure as part of the ongoing work, and key takeaways and other resources to utilize.

Some couples even find so much value in the support and connection they build during our sessions that they elect to continue meeting on a monthly or quarterly basis to have a dedicated time to process stress and transitions into marriage, celebrate successes and milestones, be supported through challenges, and reconnect outside of the demands of daily life.

More information about my practice is below, including a bit about my overall experience and training. I hope to hear from you!

I have worked in clinical practice for 12 years and have 20 years of professional experience, with an 8-year career in public relations prior to clinical practice. I was called to the helping profession and received my master's in social work in 2011. Since then, I have been called a "fierce advocate" and "impassioned counselor" by my clients and colleagues. I have served as a therapist in medical/trauma and psychiatric hospitals, intensive outpatient programs (IOPs), community health, and schools. I currently provide psychotherapy and premarital counseling in private practice and SPED counseling services in schools. I specialize in treating anxiety and mood disorders and supporting clients as they work toward personal growth, relieving symptoms of chronic stress and issues tied to grief and loss, and life adjustments.

So much of my work addresses effective communication among individuals, couples, families, that I decided to develop a pre-marital counseling curriculum and service that is flexible and customizable to focus areas and availability.

I look forward to working together!
