When picking our wedding venue, we could not have been more thrilled with our decision of the White Elephant. We were looking a wedding weekend affair and the White Elephant demonstrated they could make this dream a reality for us! The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly not only during the wedding weekend, but ALL YEAR! They truly all feel like family now, and I cannot see my husband and I staying anywhere else when we visit Nantucket each year. We feel extremely blessed to have had the privileged to have worked with these lovely white elephant associates and they truly embody everything you could ever imagine as a bride of your wedding venue. Guests still talk about the service that was provided all weekend long during our exclusive wedding weekend! Not to mention, they served 175 hot plates in 11 minutes....WOW!! From the planning, to the execution, I have ZERO disappointments. That is hard to say with so many moving pieces but, if you are looking for an unbeatable guest experience, and an unforgettable weekend and wedding, reach out to the White Elephant, you wont be disappointed!

Kelly, Mark, Bettina, Brittani, Makenzie, Bob, and everyone else--- THANK YOU!!! You all are out of this world! We cannot wait to visit you all again!

Love,
Kerri and Patrick

One month ago, my husband and I were married on Nantucket. From the minute we got engagement, we knew this was the destination, but finding the venue was the hard part. There are many beautiful places on Nantucket, however I confidently say, after much deliberation, we made the right choice. We had the entire hotel for all of our friends and family to stay at and celebrated from Friday night through Sunday brunch and each event exceed my expectations.
Throughout the course of the weekend, the level of service to not just us, but to every single guest went above and beyond. They treated every person as if it was thier big day as well, and ultimately that meant so much in terms of creating a really intimate and special feel for the weekend. In terms of the venue physically - spectacular setting. I mean, just Nantucket in a nutshell. We used all different areas of the property from the spa lawn for a Welcome Party under a tent, to the Lawn for cocktails and finally the Terrace for the reception and farewell brunch. The staff, especially Mark and Bettina, did such an excellent job in translating my vision and executing three outstanding events, each one having a distinct and different feel despite being in the same place. Our guests, even one month after the wedding, continue to rave about the amazing food at every meal, the most comfortable beds in the world, the prettiest harbor views and most importantly, how they were treated when they were at the White Elephant. It was a true vacation for all and I could not have been happier with the outcome!!!

We had our wedding here and it was absolutely perfect. I had several guests tell me they felt like they were in a movie because of the beautiful, picture perfect setting. We lucked out and had perfect weather along with a giant, full moon which helped add to the atmosphere.

Mark was amazing and easy to work with. We visited once and stopped considering other venues. We would do it all over again and not change a thing...except we'd make it to the ice cream bar which we didn't get to because the night flew by.

Mixed Feelings

The White Elephant provides a breathtaking, picturesque backdrop for any wedding, surrounded by superior service - undeniable. With this being said, I was married there this past summer and it has left a very sour taste. Three specific items to mention:

1) Our cake was served before we cut it (in what world does that happen?)

2) The wine, for which we were paying by the bottle, was being served so freely that my 12 year old cousins had full glasses, and those who had moved onto other drinks were still being poured. It was being poured without asking, and thus significantly increasing the bill. Many of our guests noticed and questioned it, mentioning later. We felt like we had been taken advantage of.

3) Lastly and most importantly, a wedding is a large expense with many bills going in and out. It is not an occasion for surprises. After the wedding was over, with receipts for all payments, and being told the balance was clear, my parents received a $10,000 charge 5-6 months LATER on a credit card that was NOT APPROVED for the transaction, with NO warning. There had been an accounting error on their end and one of the payments had not been processed, even though we received a receipt.

As I mentioned, nothing can beat the scenery at the White Elephant. It is exquisite. We also thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience which was a real treat and an 'experience'. The food was great. The staff was amazing.

There were many positives hosting it at the White Elephant, but I did feel that the issues that did arise were significant and inexcusable for a venue of that stature. Despite the beautiful setting and my true love of the White Elephant, it had left me with mixed feelings.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
