About
WEND creates entirely handmade gender-neutral fine jewelry in Seattle from sustainably sourced materials. Inspired by nature and infused with each wearer’s story, every WEND piece reflects the rugged nature of life with hand-carved textures made from Certified Recycled, Fairmined, and Fair-Trade materials, or even from our clients’ own unused jewelry.
WEND specializes in re-purposing gold and gemstones to create rugged modern heirlooms infused with history. We start by learning about the background of any jewelry to be re-purposed and the client’s own story before designing a new piece. After removing any gemstones, we isolate, weigh, and test the purity of the metal to be recast. We then sketch designs for the client, and after they choose their favorite, we carve a wax model and cast a new heirloom.
Some clients choose to join the casting process, watching as their unused jewelry literally transforms into something that genuinely honors their journey. Each cast piece is then hand-worked to further perfect and customize its appearance.
WEND’s storefront studio, school, and gallery in West Seattle allows clients to connect more deeply with our mission. There you’ll find our collection pieces in natural displays surrounded by local lichen, wood, fungi, and moss. WEND also offers art and craft classes at our Ring Bar, and our gallery (a/k/a WENDSpace) represents local artists and hosts monthly Art Walks.
