History
Villa Vanzetti was built in the mid-sixteenth century on a Roman settlement. After the Napoleonic troops occupied the space, it was used as a hospital for the army and then became the German headquarters and the Allied Forces headquarters during World War II. The historical garden on-site was designed in the 1700s and was filled with a variety of rare and exotic plants. The garden and its trees were taken care of by Professor Carlo Vanzetti, who was a world-famous agronomist and owner of the Villa. Today, his daughter Maria Alessandra takes care of the garden and works as an agronomist.
