About

Ulster Landing is a Boston-based group of profesoinal musicians who play fiddle, harp, bouzouki, and uilleann (Irish) pipes. We specialize in folk music of Ireland, Scotland and England, and we have a great time doing it. We perform at weddings, parties, church services, funerals, ceilidhs, corporate events and more! Whatever the gathering, there's nothing quite like the sound of pipes, harp and fiddle to stir the soul and liven the spirits. Make your event truly unique with boisterous reels and jigs, soulful strathspeys and beautiful slow airs. We can provide formal background music, a rousing Irish session and singalong, or a participatory event to get your guests up and dancing reels in a matter of minutes.

Our name is inspired by the Irish province of Ulster, where Scottish and English settlers landed in the 17th century. These “Scotch Irish” developed their own Scots dialect, Ullans, and a culture distinct from the rest of Ireland.

Bring the Irish seisiun to your wedding!

Ulster Landing (Dan, Joy, and Matthew) played during our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour at our November wedding at Harrington Farm. It was the perfect addition to our event! My husband is Irish and his grandmother would know exactly where to go on each day of the week in Dorchester to hear live Irish music and this was our tribute to her. My side of the family are Italian and they have never experienced something like this at a wedding. Working with Dan was effortless - he was so pleasant, professional, and made checking off this item from my wedding to do list so easy!

Incredible Group!

Ulster Landing was such a fun addition to our wedding day! We knew we wanted an element of live music and they absolutely delivered with traditional Celtic music that lent an incredible ambiance to our ceremony and cocktail hour. They were so easy to work with (thanks Dan!) and are incredible musicians. I would recommend to anyone!

Just magical!

Our wedding brought us so many hurdles, and one that hit the hardest was when the Irish band we first hired fell through. And no one else I could find had that Irish sound, and were largely out-of-price for us. I felt so defeated until I found Ulster Landing and listened to the music they have on their website. What a beautiful lift it was to our spirits to hear the gorgeous music they make! When I reached out to them I was ecstatic to hear that they were available, and not only that but they were also very flexible. They were happy to learn covers of numerous songs (including singing AND playing for our first dance), and Karen was always very responsive and friendly. They were also flexible budget-wise: we were happy to afford two of them, and then we were able to add their bag piper and they adjusted quickly. We requested demos ahead of time so we could practice dancing and they obliged, and now we also have these music files to listen to forever.
Hearing their music ahead of the processional gave me chills. The processional, recessional, and cocktail hour music were all perfect. People have complimented their music continually since then. And then when it came to our first dance their playing was also flawless; they play and sing with so much heart and vigor that by the end our guests were clapping in-time with the beat. That's one of my very favorite moments out of our special day; I couldn't have asked for better than them and I would recommend them to anyone.
