We contracted with Town & Campus Hair Care, Inc. for on-site wedding party hair styling for our wedding about 10 miles outside of Gettysburg. We live outside of Baltimore, so it was difficult to coordinate a trial with my schedule, but the salon was very flexible with me. I spoke with the owner, Kathy, who recommended I meet with one of the senior stylists, Kelly. My mom and I drove up on a rainy Saturday and Kelly showed me three different hair styles, as I liked several styles and wanted to see them to help make final decisions. She did a great job at the trial, answered some hair care questions my mom and I had, and made recommendations on styling products for straight hair that doesn't hold a curl. She also gave recommendations on my pre-wedding hair cut, recommending more angled layers up front that will create varying lengths of face-framing curls at the wedding date. It was a great tip!

We were pleased with the trial and completed a contract with the owner, paying 50% up front. I had two stylists, Kelly and Katie, come since we had 7 girls total. They gave me a 30 minute window of arrival time to set-up. They arrived on time, but they had a difficult time figuring out where to park and how to get to my room. I had to run out to flag them down, and unfortunately my fiance saw me (we were trying to not see each other the day-of the wedding). They came into the room and were quick to set-up, figure out lighting, outlets for curlers, etc.

Kelly did my up-do and did an outstanding job. I HIGHLY recommend Kelly for any styling needs. I wanted slightly different than what we had practiced, and she was able to create the look I was describing, and accepted my mom's advice to move some of the face-framing pieces so it looked even better on me. With the grace of G-d, a LOT of hair pins, and great quality hair spray, Kelly was able to create my up-do and face-framing pieces that lasted the entire day and night! I even had curl left over the next day.

Kelly and Kaitlyn did a good job with the other girls, too. Some girls had a sense of what they wanted, such as a french twist, and other girls didn't know what they wanted beyond up or down. Both stylists worked with what the girls requested and their hair to create beautiful looks. My MIL has a flare for dramatics when it comes to her personality. She stated she wanted a semi-curled blow-out, which is what Kaitlyn gave her. We all thought it looked great, but my MIL literally screamed when she looked in the mirror. Kaitlyn remained calm and made changes as MIL requested.

Things took a little longer than anticipated, and I should have requested our start time to begin an hour earlier, as well as shuffled around the order of which girl was getting her hair done next. The timing errors are my responsibility. I ended up running an hour late, and was feeling very overwhelmed with pre-wedding stress. As a result, I became emotional and my MOH asked that anyone who did not need to be in the room to leave, so the stylists who had just finished up, along with some of my other friends hurried quickly out of the room. I hope the stylists understood I needed space, but they responded in the right way by hustling out as requested.

In the confusion, they received their cash tip but not the remaining 50% balance that was due that day. Kathy, the owner, contacted my mom the next business day to clarify payment and ensure all services were fine. We were able to pay the remaining balance over the phone. It was great that they called us regarding payment, and I felt bad that my sudden need for quiet and space created confusion. However, if anyone has been a stressed and sleep-deprived bride on a wedding day, then you understand what a blessing it is to have some quiet and some breathing room amidst all the preparations!

All in all, I would definitely recommend Town & Campus Hair Care, and Kelly in particular.

My bridesmaids, mom, and I went to Town & Campus Hair Care the morning of my wedding to have our hair done. Prior to our appointment I provided the manager a list of those getting their hair done and the texture and length of their hair, so she could schedule accordingly and have us out of the salon in a timely manner. I was impressed by the salon’s organization and felt at ease that things would go as planned. She scheduled each person’s appointment to last 1 hour and we were supposed to be out of the salon in 2-2 ½ hours. Everyone’s appointment ran over. Instead of each appointment lasting 1 hour, they lasted between 1 ½ hours and 2 hours. That put the entire morning behind schedule and totally stressed me out. I should also mention the manager scheduled the bridesmaid with the longest and thickest hair with the newest stylist who had little experience. My mom did speak to the manager about all of the appointments running over, which was making us late. The manager went around to each stylist and told them they needed to speed things along. She also helped one stylist for a little while before disappearing again. I would not recommend this salon for wedding day hair styles if you’re on a tight schedule (but who isn’t on the day of their wedding?).
