The Westin Poinsett Hotel is a full-service hotel and wedding venue located in Greenville, South Carolina that lets guests enjoy quality service and an unbeatable location. Built in 1924, the hotel was known as "Carolina's Finest" as it was a hub for elites and celebrities such as Amelia Earhart & Bobby Kennedy to stay, celebrate and dine. It was purchased in 1997 and the extensive renovation process began, transforming it from one of the most endangered historic sites in South Carolina to the same luxurious hotel.
Facilities and Capacity
The Westin Poinsett boasts eight event rooms with a total of 9,669 square feet of event space, with the largest room holding up to 350 people reception style. It comes with two historic ballrooms as well as a flexible and sophisticated pre-function space right next to the Gold Ballroom. The Poinsett Ballroom comes with a large indoor veranda that can be used for a cocktail hour, while the lobby level comes with a bar area for lounging and mingling. With elegant yet neutral decor, the spaces provide the perfect ornate backdrop for your wedding photos and celebration.

Amazing Wedding Weekend at the Westin Poinsett, Greenville
We stayed at The Westin Poinsett Greenville for my daughter's wedding weekend. Our family, the groom's family, and many extended family and friends also stayed at the hotel. In addition to being in the heart of Greenville, the hotel is well-appointed with a sense of southern charm and elegance. Every staff member was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel lobby was a great gathering space for friends and family and the hotel restaurants and bars were easily accessible from the lobby. The hotel rooms and suites were clean, quiet and the views of the city were perfect!
Throughout the weekend, we had several beautiful events at The Westin Poinsett including the Bridal Brunch, Wedding Reception and Farewell Breakfast. Each of these events was unique and the food and service were outstanding. By the end of the weekend, we felt like we were friends with the staff.
Words cannot express how amazing Sarah Baker and the entire hotel staff were in coordinating and executing these special events. Throughout the planning process for each one, Sarah's communication was highly professional and consistent. She is knowledgeable, accommodating, and organized. Each of our events involved coordinating with a variety of people and everyone commented on how easy she was to work with throughout the process!! Sarah is simply he best!

I I00% recommend the Westin for your wedding venue. The Westin is stunning, and Sarah Baker and her team are rock stars. Planning, in general, is not “my thing,” but Sarah made the process so easy. Her customer service was amazing. She answered my 2000 questions quickly and eased my many anxieties. The packages the Westin offers allow you to create the wedding of your dreams. I loved not having to worry about rentals, caterers, bar staff, hotel rooms, getting-ready areas, and even pre-wedding snacks. The Westin did it all. We managed to stay within budget and still have an amazing wedding.

Perfect Wedding Venue
Everything was perfect. The staff, the food, the venue all made our day special and we are so thankful that we found a venue that catered to us and our guests the entire weekend.

Dream Wedding Reception Venue
The beautiful interior of the building itself & the ballroom where the reception is held is a selling point in and of itself. But what really makes the Westin such a wonderful venue is the SERVICE! Sarah was always on top of things & happy to answer any questions. The Westin is such a well-oiled machine in that they know what they're doing and are doing it effortlessly where the bride doesn't have to worry about even the slightest detail! They've got it covered! Seriously could NOT have found a better venue/service.

Gantt’s Celebration
The Westin Poinsett staff was very friendly and accommodating. We originally booked this Venue as our host hotel for our wedding celebration back in 2020, but like many other brides/grooms we had to cancel our entire wedding plans due to Covid-19. However, the Westin Poinsett opened their doors to us for our wedding party photo shoot; this was truly remarkable. In 2021 we returned back to the Westin Poinsett and worked with Sarah Baker and team who was phenomenal with helping us plan our 1 year anniversary party. Sarah did not miss a beat as she knew and had all the answers to many of our questions we had. Sarah was also extremely helpful to our vendors that included our band, DJ and our planning team. We will highly recommend you all to work with the Westin Poinsett team as they were a joy to work with☺️☺️

A Dream Come True
I'm going to be honest and say The Westin Poinsett was not our 1st option. But i'm a truly believer in everything happens for a reason. I'm a bride of Cov-19 2020 wedding year but that's not the 1st thing that tried to rip our wedding to pieces and definitely was not the last thing. I was reached out to by several vendors after the 1st horrendous event but 1 stood out to me the most and that was a young lady named Sarah with The Westin Poinsett, DownTown Greenville. She asked me to meet her and it turned into 1 of the best decisions I ever made. Sarah was phenomenal to work with. She is easy to talk to, understandable, informative, supportive. I mean from the day I accepted the Westin Poinsett to the day my husband and I were married, she was there. The place itself is so breathtaking. Any scheduling problems I had she worked around, everytime a problem came up she was there not only to work with me about it but the support and comfort she left you with made it so easy to get through. She was so active in making sure everything you asked for happened and if it didn't, she was telling you why, when, where, and how plans B or C needed to go into place. Before Cov-19 I had a whole team there but because of Cov, I needed up with just Sarah and I was perfectly okay with that. The Roof view was unbelievably gorgeous and our room that night was amazing as well. Comfortable bed, walk-in shower, a woman's dream of a mirror and a beautiful view from the window of Greenville. Through every obstacle 2020 through at us with our wedding (and I mean there was a lot) The Westin Poinsett made it all worth it. Sarah pulled it off and this bride got to walk away that night with her new husband and the happiest smile of success of her dream wedding. I would definitely recommend them. 2020 Wedding
We can't thank the Westin enough for everything they did for us. We had to reschedule our wedding mere weeks ahead due to Covid-19. Our wedding planner (not from the Westin) contacted all of our vendors and had the entire thing rescheduled in mere hours. The Westin was so great to work with and booked our day for us no problem. We had to make a few last minute changes due to Covid-19 restrictions but the Westin still did a great job pulling everything together. It was always a dream to be married in one of our favorite spots in town, and it was well worth the wait. We can't wait to return for our anniversary.

Phenomenal Experience!
We had our dream wedding at The Westin Poinsett Hotel. The experience was phenomenal! Sarah was a delight to work with, always very attentive and responsive. The day of our wedding Sarah was unable to be present, but Yveline the event captain did an amazing job making sure that everything went as planned. The entire staff was friendly, professional and extremely attentive. If you are looking to have a worry free wedding done by professionals and are looking for exceptional world class experience we recommend The Westin Poinsett Hotel. The elegance and beauty of the hotel is magnificent, our photographer was able to capture some spectacular pictures.

The Westin is the Highlight of downtown Greenville! We love every time we are able to capture a wedding there and I know you will love it!
Not only is this hotel a Greenville landmark and has all the historic charm and modern amenities you can imagine, they take great care treat every wedding as if it's the ONLY event going on. They could two or three weddings or events going on simultaneously and every group gets 110% of their efforts. This place really is classy. The staff is well dressed and makes sure everything is taken care of efficiently without getting in the way...the mark of true professionals. From the food to the banquet presentation to the friendly service, there's a reason why this venue is so highly sought after for couples planning their weddings and receptions. We LOVE photographing there too! So many creative possibilities.
The Westin Poinsett is an amazing place to perform at! Any of the ballrooms they have a gorgeous and well laid out to be accommodating and easy to use for your guests! Being right at the heart of downtown Greenville is awesome as well!
