We had a wonderful wedding here on a rainy day in September! Luckily you can do the whole thing inside if needed, so it's a great rainy day option. Super cute and cozy setting with a fun string light option that creates a romantic atmosphere. The new events coordinator, Morgan is a rock star. Super sweet and friendly and very accommodating with some last minute things. She was great to work with and got back to me right away with everything, so the communication was really easy. This made a huge difference to me in the last months of planning when I was stressed. We spent about 7500 for everything/ food/alcohol/venue rental, so it's very reasonable, but the food is the only thing I would not give 5 stars. It was just OK. I'd look into the catering option if I had it to do over, but beer and wine selections were great. There were no extra charges tacked on at the end for anything that we weren't aware of. Thanks again Village Ballroom! We had a great time rain or shine.

What a gem we stumbled upon when we found The Village Ballroom!! Connected to The Oregon Public House, The Village Ballroom is a nonprofit event space where 100% of the profits are donated to a local charity!! Pair this with the fact that it ended up being the most reasonably priced venue in town, and my husband and I were absolutely sold.

The space is beautiful, with very little need to decorate because it is so lovely on its own. The entire event staff was so helpful and responsive, getting us answers right away and clarifying with us along the way. All the costs were explained very clearly and they were up front with us in how cost might be affected whenever we wanted to add something or change something. For a very reasonable fee we opted to use their staff for bartending, as well as the purchase of non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, we chose to pay their staff (again, a very modest fee) to take care of clean-up after the event, as we didn't want to burden our parents and friends with that task.

The venue has very nice chairs to use as well as a good variety of tables of different sizes (included in your rental fee). They also have linens which can be rented through them, saving the hassle of renting from another company and paying for deliver/pickup fees.

The venue coordinator even worked with my wedding coordinators, offering suggestion for ways to expedite setup and the flip (we did both ceremony and reception in the ballroom).

I really feel like this space is an under-appreciated treasure, and can't imagine why more people haven't caught on. Because my husband and I met working with a homeless community, we felt so good about our choice to go with The Village Ballroom, considering their direct connection to social justice and giving back to the community. It was the absolute perfect setting for our perfect day.

The Village Ballroom is a great place in Portland. Beautiful space for our wedding, which ended up being about 90 for ceremony and buffet dinner. We had our ceremony on the stage and there's a lovely bar in the adjoining room. The venue operates as a non-profit, so profits from the event are donated by the Village Ballroom to one of 6 local charities that they are partnering with at that time. A good way to feel like you're giving back to the community! Alcohol is limited to wine, cider and beer--no hard alcohol on premises.

They do recommend that you have someone available to help coordinate the day of. I know other venues who do weddings and events regularly have an on site wedding coordinator as part of their staff but we asked a friend who used to help with weddings so it turned out perfectly for us.

I really liked working with The Village Ballroom for my wedding and reception. We had catering done by them and I couldn't believe how many people were complementing the food all night. Our event manager was always willing to take questions and was available to show the space on a couple different occasions. She was also very helpful and professional on the day/night of the wedding. The costs are reasonable and there is a lot of flexibility in what you want them to provide or not provide. It was also great to have a place to go hang out with friends/family after our reception (the Oregon Public House is located just downstairs and part of the same organization). Again, I can't speak highly enough about the food!

We enjoyed this venue and used it for our wedding reception only. We also had them cater our event and bought alcohol from them. Overall we were pleased with the space, food, alcohol and the fact that we get to choose a charity to donate proceeds too. Great service day of as well!

The Village Ballroom in North Portland is a little gem of a place. It's much more affordable than most venues in Portland and the proceeds go to a charity. What more could you want?! We had a happy hour, wedding ceremony and reception all at the Ballroom. There is a great bar area and they allowed us to choose our caterers, which was wonderful. We had amazing food. The venue will purchase any beer and wine (or you pay corkage), no liquor allowed, but we didn't mind that limitation. A downside is that there is no handicap access and no elevator for caterers or band equipment. That was definitely an extra burden for them and an elderly relative. AV was included and good quality, which was a huge plus. If you use this location, make sure you follow-up with the venue organizer, he is a bit unorganized. We had a mishap after the wedding with the caterer because they could not clean up at the arranged time because the venue organizer didn't show up as promised, but then called us in a panic because the place was still dirty for a community event that evening. Not a pleasant situation to deal with during our honeymoon and I had to apologize to our amazing caterer. Sorry Artemis! But for value and location, environment and coziness, we loved this location!

Where to even begin. My Fiancé and I booked this venue back in August of 2019 for our wedding in October 2020. We paid our deposit, signed their contract, and moved forward with our wedding planning now that we had secured our venue and new exactly how much we had left over in our budget. Without even going into detail about the complete lack of contact and involvement from the "manager" over the next 6 months, I will skip to the important part. In late February, I met with my mother-in-law to be at the The Village Ballroom with the manager Monica, to look over linens, talk details, and get some ideas for our decorations. We left with a smile and though the service had not been great up to that point, we felt much better and were in good spirits. Then, about 3 week later in early March I get an email (yes...an EMAIL), from Monica telling me that they are super sorry but they had DOUBLE BOOKED the venue for our wedding date of October 10, 2020 and since they technically received the other couples deposit first they were unable to follow through with my contract. So, double bookings totally happen, but a venue that has even the most basic sense of organization and care would have noticed that double booking within a week, maybe a month at the longest. But no, The Village Ballroom told me I no longer had a wedding venue 6 MONTHS after we paid our deposit. Six....months. As any bride to be can imagine, we had already spent most of our remaining budget on literally everything. I had purchased my dress, hired vendors, purchased decorations based on the venue, we had our website up and running, we had sent out our save the dates, and even confirmed and paid for our entire honeymoon which left only three days after the wedding. The Village Ballroom left us completely devastated. We had to spend days and hours calling every venue in the Portland area to find another venue with the same date available (which was so incredibly difficult - and meant I was no longer able to choose based on what I wanted, but rather what was available), and when we finally were able to find a venue that was both available and met the basic needs of our guest list (keeping in mind the entire guest list had already received their save the date cards - some had even already booked flights and hotels at this point), it was almost $3,000 over our original budget. Obviously, I tried to work with the venue to give them an opportunity to relieve some of the emotional and financial stress they had caused me, my fiancé, and my family. The response I got from Monica was that she was "so so so sorry", and that this was "two managers ago" and taking no responsibility at all. Not sure what it says about the venue to go through three managers in less than a year, but I will just leave you with that. I sent an email explaining how this was effecting us, asking to know what else The Village Ballroom was going to do to make this right, and what I got was a blank piece of printer paper with my deposit return in the mail. No phone call, no response to my email. They double booked our wedding, notified us 6 months after we paid our deposit via email, and then ghosted us. So if you are reading this, I cannot express enough that this venue (even though it is a non-profit and it pains me to say it, that was part of why we chose it in the first place), is not worth your time or money. They should not be supported by your business or your donations. I could have understood not receiving any assistance from them as far as money or compensation (though difficult after what they cost us) in the end it is the lack of ownership for the huge mistake, the lack of communication and personal care or remorse, and the overall lack of professionalism that motivated me to come warn every future bride that this venue is to be avoided at all costs.
