Southern Vermont's favorite band, the Prescription, started more than 20 years ago when Peter King, a physician and guitar player in a band called Midlife Crisis, was given voice lessons for a birthday present. Kerry Ryer-Parke, raised as a folk singer and with classical training, was that voice teacher, and despite a deficiency in rock and roll, was soon drafted into the band. Joined by Mike Vecellio, a veteran of the music scene in North Adams, MA on keyboards and bass, and Shantia Mayer, a versatile singer and keyboardist, they have been been bringing joy to audiences for many years.
