Could not have asked for better

The title of this review doesn't even scratch the surface. When we first started looking, we had the Menger high on our list due to the role it played in our relationship (our first stay vacation!) and how beautiful it is. I was elated to find out how responsive, helpful, creative, and kind the team at the Menger is. They answered my (many, many) questions promptly and thoroughly. I never felt confused by the process or like I would be blindsided. They were up front about everything and willing to work with me on different ideas. The pricing is also a really strong point here, as it is well priced and well worth the cost. Leading up to the wedding, the team took care of so much and were so flexible with letting us into the rooms early to set up, and even changing some of the decorations that day because yes, they have items like charger plates and candle sticks already there! They helped with signage for the cocktails and direction plaues in the hotel, and they even made sure they had ingrediants for our signautre cocktails on hand. They made the whole experience so easy and fun and I really can't recommend them more. It's a beautiful space, with so much character, and the whole team, from the catering planning department to the servers to the bartenders to even the kind people at the front desk made it such a wonderful experience. Weddings are hard and kind of a mess to plan, but this is one decision that can be easy to make. Happy planning!

Met Gala Meets Chinoiserie

We had a fantastic experience hosting our wedding at the Menger Hotel in Downtown San Antonio! Zarelda and her team were so communicative and helpful when it came to the planning leading up to our special day, as well as execution during the event itself!

The hotel is located down in the heart of the San Antonio Riverwalk and is right next to the Alamo. We had a lot of family coming from out of state—with this being their first time in Texas—so the ability for them to walk around and experience San Antonio right from the hotel was great.

From our initial meeting with Zarelda, we knew she would work to make sure we had an amazing day—she made sure we had everything in place with our planning, helped us pick the perfect venue for the ceremony and reception with our budget in mind (spoiler: they have several spaces in the hotel for events!), and was there the day of the wedding to help make sure everything went off without a hitch.

A great thing about the Menger Hotel was that the catering and bar services are done in-house, so you’re able to worry less about communicating with a lot of different vendors leading up to your wedding day. The food for our reception was delicious, too! There’s always a worry your food will taste like “wedding food” when you go to someone’s wedding, but the food was high quality and very tasty!

When we first came to San Antonio to see if we wanted to live here, we stayed at the Menger and had a lovely experience as a guest, so being able to celebrate our special day was a full-circle moment. The character, history, decor and experience of the hotel itself acted as a stunning and grandiose backdrop for our ceremony and reception, with many of our guests remarking at how luxe and grand everything felt.

Majestic Hotel for Living your Best Classy, Unique, Amazing Wedding Dream!

Nate and I LOVED the Menger Hotel for our wedding. We walked into the venue and the history, the decor - we said this is it. It's a photographer/videographer's dream - the interior is so interesting, and our guests LOVED it. You don't need decorations since the venue is so beautiful and interesting itself. We loved the Victorian Lobby for our happy hour -we had mariachi there to play, and cocktails - Zara was even able to do pop-tails for us (paletas and prosecco as our specialty cocktail). The reception was set up to prefection and Zara (the catering manager who works on planning with the wedding couples) was AMAZING. She is so responsive, answered all of our questions, and was so flexible with us - she really helped our wedding vision come true. When I was stressed out, Zara made it so easy for us. Also all of our guests LOVED the food. We did the BBQ option for dinner, it was great for our out of towners - our guest thought it was delicous. ALSO the margaritas were TO DIE for. My husband and I are very picky on our margs, and we would easily order these all the time. It was a magical evening and one that we will never forget. The Menger felt like home and I hope it will feel that way for you too! I mean you can't get a better deal - it was one of the cheapest venues, located conveniently in the heart of San Antonio with a ton of options nearby, and has all the amenties you could need (it comes with all the linens, chairs, tables, etc.!). Could not recommend more.

Amazing Service

Zarelda, the catering manager was amazing. She went above and beyond to make sure our day was what we envisioned. She is an angel, and a lot of fun to work with!

A beautiful wedding experience at the Menger Hotel

We were very surprised that a hotel as beautiful as the Menger Hotel could be so affordable for a wedding. Zara Marrero helped manage the wedding through multiple changes due to the corona virus. The flexibility Menger and Zara demonstrated was amazing. The hotel staff were all friendly and very accommodating to all our requests.

Incredible Experience

During what is almost always a high stress event, working with the Menger Hotel made the experience as stress free as possible. Working with Ms Zarelda Marrero, Director of Catering, and the primary point-of-contact for planning the wedding was a very enjoyable experience. The Menger Hotel was very flexible as plans changed, i.e. needing a larger room for the reception. Having rooms blocked for guests was very easy and we were kept up-to-date with the names of guests who had made reservations. We had a live band and the set-up, etc was transparent to us; The Menger took care of everything. If we had to do it over again and we had our choice of venues for our wedding it would be the Historic Menger Hotel.

Luxury hotel for budget price!

We fell in love with the Menger hotel at first sight! The hotel boasts stunning architecture and décor for a classic or Victorian wedding!
For the wedding, a lot of scenery was not needed as the hotel has an amazing historical zest: the paintings, murals, stucco molding and other decor looked amazing!
The very historic antique atmosphere of the hotel on its first visit speaks for itself and leaves a very good impression!
The hotel undertook the organization of the ceremony and celebration. Everything went at the highest level, as we planned.
The organizers of the hotel acted clearly, following the plan and for several hours spent in the hotel, we everywhere felt their attention and care!
We want to say special thanks to Zarelda, who professionally helped in organizing the wedding plan and always answered our questions with attention.
The food was very tasty and matched the restaurant of the highest category! The waiters were attentive, they worked quickly and in an organized manner.
A bonus for the newlyweds was a chic 2-room suite with a stunning decor, which our bride and groom really liked! And the hotel also provided cozy and stylish spacious costumed rooms for his bride and groom.

I must say that the hotel has budget prices and good bonuses. We were very pleasantly surprised by the prices, although at first we thought that we would not pull this hotel financially. Also we got hotel complimented champagne for all our guest!

I would like to thank the Menger Hotel for hosting our wedding. Everything went amazingly beautiful and all our dreams come true!
We highly recommend Menger hotel, where you can spend your dream wedding just like we did!

Wedding Experience at the Menger Hotel

Our Wedding on Sept 21, 2019 in the Menger Hotel Garden and Renaissance room was a total success. The hotel's events manager Zarelda working in conjunction with our wedding advisor David Alvarado made the entire experience a memory we and our guests will always remember.

Outstanding service

All my experiences at the Menger have been wonderful. My fiancé and I enjoy going there so much we booked our wedding ceremony/reception there. Everyone that works there have always gone above/ beyond in customer service when dealing with them. Highly recommend. Zara ( catering) and Monica (lodging) have made the planning for the wedding a joy. Look forward to a memorable experience for all.
