Nate and I LOVED the Menger Hotel for our wedding. We walked into the venue and the history, the decor - we said this is it. It's a photographer/videographer's dream - the interior is so interesting, and our guests LOVED it. You don't need decorations since the venue is so beautiful and interesting itself. We loved the Victorian Lobby for our happy hour -we had mariachi there to play, and cocktails - Zara was even able to do pop-tails for us (paletas and prosecco as our specialty cocktail). The reception was set up to prefection and Zara (the catering manager who works on planning with the wedding couples) was AMAZING. She is so responsive, answered all of our questions, and was so flexible with us - she really helped our wedding vision come true. When I was stressed out, Zara made it so easy for us. Also all of our guests LOVED the food. We did the BBQ option for dinner, it was great for our out of towners - our guest thought it was delicous. ALSO the margaritas were TO DIE for. My husband and I are very picky on our margs, and we would easily order these all the time. It was a magical evening and one that we will never forget. The Menger felt like home and I hope it will feel that way for you too! I mean you can't get a better deal - it was one of the cheapest venues, located conveniently in the heart of San Antonio with a ton of options nearby, and has all the amenties you could need (it comes with all the linens, chairs, tables, etc.!). We fell in love with the Menger hotel at first sight! The hotel boasts stunning architecture and décor for a classic or Victorian wedding!
For the wedding, a lot of scenery was not needed as the hotel has an amazing historical zest: the paintings, murals, stucco molding and other decor looked amazing!
The very historic antique atmosphere of the hotel on its first visit speaks for itself and leaves a very good impression!
The hotel undertook the organization of the ceremony and celebration. Everything went at the highest level, as we planned.
The organizers of the hotel acted clearly, following the plan and for several hours spent in the hotel, we everywhere felt their attention and care!
We want to say special thanks to Zarelda, who professionally helped in organizing the wedding plan and always answered our questions with attention.
The food was very tasty and matched the restaurant of the highest category! The waiters were attentive, they worked quickly and in an organized manner.
A bonus for the newlyweds was a chic 2-room suite with a stunning decor, which our bride and groom really liked! And the hotel also provided cozy and stylish spacious costumed rooms for his bride and groom.
I must say that the hotel has budget prices and good bonuses. We were very pleasantly surprised by the prices, although at first we thought that we would not pull this hotel financially. Also we got hotel complimented champagne for all our guest!
I would like to thank the Menger Hotel for hosting our wedding. Everything went amazingly beautiful and all our dreams come true!
We highly recommend Menger hotel, where you can spend your dream wedding just like we did! -

All I can say is AMAZING! Picking a wedding venue can be stressful and often times I feel brides sacrifice some of the things they may really want because of cost or a venue not being able to provide. I can honestly say my wedding was everything I wanted and more. Zara, Hector and staff ensured that all of my needs and wants were met and exceeded. I truly felt like I was a member of family not like a customer arranging a wedding. They were flexible, extremely accommodating, and just so much fun to work with. I am already positive that I want to renew my vows at The Menger where it all began. The ceremony was held in the Minuet room and my reception in the ballroom. Everything was smooth and even when I was bridezila the staff were patient with me and doing all they could to help me. I wish words were enough to describe how much i appreciate The Menger.The Menger Hotel's reply:

Wedding Experience at the Menger Hotel
Our Wedding on Sept 21, 2019 in the Menger Hotel Garden and Renaissance room was a total success. The hotel's events manager Zarelda working in conjunction with our wedding advisor David Alvarado made the entire experience a memory we and our guests will always remember.

The Menger team met all my needs and expectations, plus more. The communication was excellent and they treat you, your soon to be spouse and guests with the utmost professionalism and service. Since our first tour of the Grand Ballroom, Minuet room and Renaissance room we knew that we could have our cake and eat it too! Thank you Menger Hotel for making our dream wedding come true!

So my family and I frequently visit San Antonio and for our wedding day, we decided to book everyone's room at The Menger hotel. We used about 27 rooms for our wedding weekend. I had the bridal suite at $225/night. The guest rate was $157/night. The rooms were definitely old, which we knew, but did not expect some of the rooms to be so hot from the A/C not working. Nevertheless, they were very accommodating in switching people to another room if that was their case.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and in a prime location (Our venue was at the Grand Promenade at Pat O'Briens right across the street!). We even took our formal wedding photos at the hotel. OH AND, the nice thing is they hold rooms for you and whatever is not book, the couple is not responsible for paying anything if there are rooms that were not booked.
We originally reserved 11, but that quickly grew to 27 even at the last minute. -

My Fiance and I toured with Zareleda and immediately fell in love with The Menger! Although we decided on a different venue due to price and availability I would recommend anyone to her as she was very honest and helpful with the whole process! -

The coordinator did not let us lock in our selections a months before the wedding and told us as we got closer to the date she would honor the original prices just in case any changes had occured. She did not honor it. The food went up $50 to $65 a person along with all the alcohol going up a couple hundred dollars. Overall we paid another 3K only because we showed her the original forms and prices and she honored less than half. We would have paid another 7K had we not done this.
The day before the wedding we confirmed with the coordinator about setting up the hall before rehearsal dinner. She had no idea what we were talking about since there was a convention in the hall the next morning and there was no way we could set up. We forwarded her the email where she sent us the times and were we confirmed and she agreed on the date and time. She said we could set up the hall the hour before the wedding. We disagreed, no way it could happen. She then called and said we could drop off all the linens, decorations and centerpieces. Her and her crew were going to set up for us the next morning. I left her with picture of the staged tables, and directions on how to set it up along with one table set up 100%. Table: 1 runner, party favors, string of lights and 9 plants. She looked at it and said "actually yall can set up right now". We had no one to help because she said she was going to do it. The Mengers Wedding coordinator is not a woman of her word and gave us unnecessary stress before our wedding.The Menger Hotel's reply:

Thank you for sharing your feedback from your wedding in January of 2022. I was disappointed to hear of your concerns over pricing and set up and, on behalf of all of us here at the Menger, please accept my most sincere apologies.
It is our overriding goal to provide excellence in service and accommodations here in San Antonio. While we normally receive very high scores with our wedding events, it appears that you had some concerns you wished to share.
Please know that I have reviewed all the event orders and final bill and it did show you were billed for $50 per person for food the dinner. The event order shows that there were additional appetizers ordered for the reception, which caused the per person price to go up. The beverage charges were based on consumption per the event order and they also look to be accurate.
When the wedding was booked, we realized we had a tight turn of the ballroom with a prior event finishing that Saturday morning. Thankfully the prior group concluded their meeting Friday afternoon and we brought in our crews to turn the room to have it ready to set up for your wedding on Friday evening. While we don’t normally set up table decorations and centerpieces, I believe the communications with you and your wedding party could have been better. We sincerely regret how this impacted your day.
