Congratulations on your engagement! We couldn’t be more thankful you’re here getting to know us & our work :)

We’re Kelsy & Butch McCartney, the husband & wife team behind The McCartneys Photography. Our studio is located downtown in central WI and we regularly travel around the midwest to photograph couples in love. Door County is among our very favorite plaes to photograph!

As we’ve been told, we have an energy that is best described as contagious! When asked why we love photography, our answer is simple and it comes with a smile on our faces. We love capturing heartfelt moments that go by too fast so you can look back on them with a smile on YOUR face! Knowing the images we create will last forever and become a cherished memory for our clients means the world to us.

We are approaching our 17th year as full-time photographers and feel endlessly grateful for the incredible couples we are privileged to get to know. Above all, it’s the connections we make with our couples that fill us up and make us love what we do. YOU are our WHY. Creating a taken-care-of experience for our clients is just one thing that sets us apart, in addition to our magnetic energy and artful yet timeless imagery.

When we’re not behind the camera we love sharing a pot of coffee in the morning (& finding a local coffee shop in the afternoon!), traveling, hiking with our cavapoo pup, and spending as much time with our family as possible.

Amazing Photographers!

We chose the McCartneys as the photographers for our engagement shoot and our wedding in Door County this past summer. We are by no means individuals that love to be photographed but we felt extremely comfortable shooting with Kelsy & Butch. They are down to earth and put us both at ease throughout the entire process. We just received a very comprehensive and stunning collection of photographs from our wedding day. We couldn't be more pleased! They captured so many special moments from the day that we will look back on for years to come. We wanted our photos to be elegant and timeless and they completely delivered. We loved the fact that they had shot many weddings in Door County, WI in the past. They helped find beautiful outdoor backdrops for our photos. If you are looking to make an investment in beautiful, timeless photography for your wedding I wouldn't hesitate to book them! These are your wedding photographers! Look no further!

Kelsy and Butch. Where to even begin. They were such a bright light during our special day. I don’t think I’ve met a duo that is so kind, amazingly positive, and yet totally professional. They make you feel so comfortable I literally forgot they were taking photos. Our bridal party and families could not stop talking about how awesome they were - they truly added so much to our day. This expense is TOTALLY worth it for the quality of the photos. They captured such genuine moments and really took into consideration the style of photography I wanted, which was amazing. These are your people!!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND- if you like having fun and getting great pictures

We got married in September 2021 and this amazing duo added so much fun to our day! We are both super awkward and do not like being in front of the camera and they made everything feel so natural and fun!! We don't have our pictures yet but we're so excited to see them as even the pictures they took on their phones and posted to Instagram were amazing! We also had a decent sized group for the brides extended family and everyone was asking for family pictures; Butch was so flexible and kind making sure that all the moments were captured. We cannot be more happy that they were a part of our day both as photographers who brought out the best in us for pictures but also as a wonderful couple who filled our day with many laughs and smiles with their great senses of humor, love, and excitement to be a part of our day.

We love Kelsy and Butch!

Butch and Kelsy are fantastic at what they do!

We relocated our wedding to Las Vegas after our original 2020 wedding was cancelled. They were happy to come to Vegas with us in 2021 to photograph our new wedding.

What they excel in, besides taking beautiful photos, is making everyone feel comfortable and excited. They are fun, funny, and energetic. It helps keep everyone happy and light. Weddings can be stressful, especially for a Bride. But I felt nothing but relaxed as they took all of the pre ceremony shots.

They ask you ahead of time what is important to you and what style of photography you want. Then they scout your location to find the perfect spots to capture your day.

They also make you feel like models and tell you you are really pretty, so who doesn't love that?!

If you want a stellar photography duo, look no further!

Wonderful duo!

Kelsy and Butch were so fun to work with from the first email to when we received our photos (which were delivered less than 1 month after the wedding)!!! We had such a wonderful wedding day and we are thoroughly enjoying reliving it through our photos. Kelsy and Butch had such a great, positive energy and everyone commented how lovely they were to work with. I would highly recommend them!

Kelsy and Butch are phenomenal photographers, whose exceptional talent and skill are matched by their exceptional personalities.

After seeing examples of their work via friends who had hired them for their wedding, I knew they would be the first vendor to call when my now-husband and I got engaged. The McCartneys are incredibly professional, personable, and most importantly, masterful at what they do. They are prompt in their pre-wedding communication, provide thoughtful suggestions, and are on top of all the details (qualities that are invaluable to any bride – especially an anxious one like me!)

They have an amazing way of making you feel at ease in front of the cameras and letting you enjoy the moments they are capturing, while at the same time skillfully guiding the process and ensuring they are getting amazing photos. We truly enjoyed their company during our engagement session as well as their photography of our rehearsal dinner and wedding, and are incredibly happy with our experience working with the McCartneys. It was really nice to hear from our friends and family who they photographed as well, that our photographers were "so fun to work with."

It is wonderful, beyond words, to reflect on the moments and memories from the happiest day of our lives, and we have Kelsy and Butch to thank for capturing them so beautifully.

Ah, The McCartneys! I was so excited to randomly stumble upon their blog when I was photographer-hunting and even more excited when they were available for our day. I'm a photography nerd so the photo aspect of our wedding was really important to me, and the fact that the McCartneys do a mix of film and digital was so attractive to me (film is not dead and it's so much better than digital, trust me). I emailed them like a thousand times with questions/updates - planning a wedding long-distance will do this to you - and they were endlessly patient, friendly and even pretended to enjoy my myriad messages. We got our photos super quick after the wedding and they were INCREDIBLE. They're super easy to work with and are more like friends that vendors. Hire them. Now!

Easily one of the best decisions we made concerning our big day, the McCartneys are the whole package! To start, Butch and Kelsy are an amazing, two photographer team. The day of the wedding goes by too fast, so having an extra camera on hand made sure that we were able to capture all of our special moments. If that isn't enough, the photo quality is exquisite! The McCartneys are different than most photographers in that they shoot traditional film. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but the quality of the film shots is superior (in our opinion), adding that last missing element from comparable photos we have seen. The cherry on top of our experience is the personal connection that we made with our photographers. From our consults, to a dinner meeting here and there, and all of the way through the wedding, Butch and Kelsy are amazing to work with. Their light-hearted attitude, paired with an amazing work ethic, truly sets this pair apart from other photographers. We could not have envisioned a better experience with better people and would highly recommend the McCartneys to anyone who asks!

John and I found the McCartney's through our good friends who have used them to capture all their precious moments (wedding and their two adorable girls)! We spoke to multiple photographers and as soon as we Skyped with Butch and Kelsy we knew we wanted them to capture our special day! We felt like we knew them for years! The amount of detail they but into their business and their clients is unlike anything I have seen or experienced! From the initial welcome box they sent us with personalized touches to the timelines and sending us our wedding photos in such a timely manner. Our pictures are incredible, so many people compliment on the quality and style! Butch and Kelsy were incredible to work with and went above and beyond our expectations in every way! I would highly recommend the McCartney's for anyone's photography needs our pictures are stunning!

There were a few vendors during our wedding planning process that were truly a privilege to work with and the McCartneys were one of them. From our very first contact through even now, after our wedding as we are ordering our photos, they were extremely professional, brought excitement and creativity to the project, and were always incredibly responsive. They were pros. Wedding planning is a lot of work and having a vendor like them who simply handles it, does an amazing job, and is pleasant throughout is a gift. We gave them very little direction and they nailed everything. We love our photos and look forward to using them for more in the future!
