When my now-HUSBAND and I first started to plan, we knew we didn’t have the financial or mental fortitude for a large, traditional wedding. We originally opted for a courthouse wedding, but quickly realized we wanted to do more to honor our beautiful seven-year relationship and include the people who mean most to us.

THIS is where The Hytch came in and created a PERFECT day for us, our daughters (one human, one canine), and 18 of our closest loved ones.

From the start, Gina was a warm and knowledgeable coordinator. She covered every detail I hadn’t thought of and provided creative options at every turn. She enthusiastically accommodated every unique idea I threw at her, as long as it was anything short of impossible! Leading up to the wedding, I spent most of my time pinning down the details of our music playlist, outfits, and vows. Any other stressor was out of mind and covered by Gina; at most, it just required a quick answer on what would work best for my husband and me.

Day-of, though?! Oh my god. Beyond! This team KNOWS what they’re doing. I showed up a little later than I had hoped (typical), and they supported me in regaining time to prepare like the true pros they are. Gina and Mackenzie handled EVERYTHING—most of it being invisible to me, I’m sure. They totally GOT my vision and created an event that I still can’t believe was real. I honestly think they could become professional cat herders if they wanted to—they’re that amazing!

As our officiant, Darren helped ease our nerves with humor and liveliness. He took every note we gave him to heart and delivered a service that our guests said was THEIR FAVORITE CEREMONY EVER!!! Of course I’m biased, but our family and friends have a history of being brutally honest. I can tell you it was definitely our favorite wedding ever, though.

And then there is the GLORY that is Ashleigh, our photographer. She took the art (I’m calling my wedding art!) we created with the help of Gina, Mackenzie, and Darren and turned it into something we can keep and share forever. You know how sometimes you wish you could SHOW your dreams to other people? If anyone can work magic like that, it’s Ashleigh.
On a slightly more grounded note, this was our first time doing a couples' shoot. I don’t think I’ve had professional photos done since school, and of course I spent a lot of time fretting over how I would look. I went into this feeling a little anxious, a little insecure, and a lot clueless. If that's you: do NOT worry! Ashleigh has your back and will turn you into a supermodel. Like I said... magic.

My final shout-out goes to the venue itself. For us, it being local was a huge plus. Reno is home, and Sierra Water Gardens is very close to our actual house! I’m usually very expressive, but there’s just no point in trying to describe the beauty of the SWG spot. It’s breath-taking.

Thank you to the whole team for your incredible work and the shining personalities you shared with us. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate in what has become my favorite spot in Reno (and maybe the world?). There is a reason The Hytch has such good reviews. My wedding was absolutely perfect thanks to The Hytch. I did not want the stress of a big wedding, but I still wanted it to be something beautiful. I got that and more with The Hytch. They made the process so easy, and The Hytch Crew was so knowledgeable and helpful. I knew at any point in the process I could reach out and get any help I needed. It was also easy to customize my wedding to add more things on, like photography because Ashleigh is absolutely amazing!! I look back at my photos and can't believe they are my wedding and not some wedding from a magazine. I also added on more time at the venue because I wanted to spend more time with my loved ones. We celebrated our wedding at The Hytch at Sierra Water Gardens, and I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience. From the very beginning, I was completely blown away.

Yeliz and our coordinator, Gina, were absolutely incredible. They are some of the kindest, most thoughtful, and genuinely caring people I’ve ever worked with. Throughout the entire process, they made my husband and me feel so comfortable and supported. They were always flexible with scheduling meetings, understanding with payments, and incredibly attentive whenever I had questions (or wedding-planning anxieties!). I always felt heard, reassured, and taken care of.

Gina absolutely nailed my vision. I showed her a Pinterest board, and she brought it to life beyond anything I could have imagined. The florals were stunning — and the team even made me smaller bouquets to take home afterward, which was such a thoughtful touch. The entire staff was professional, sweet, and so accommodating to both us and our families.

The venue itself is pure magic. The Hytch spans the breathtaking Sierra Water Gardens and backs up to the Truckee River, which makes for the most gorgeous and unique setting. The moment I walked in, I was speechless. It was everything I had dreamed of and more.

One of the biggest gifts they gave us was peace of mind. For an incredible value, you get the entire venue AND their team fully handles setup and breakdown of décor. That level of support allowed me to actually be present on my wedding day instead of worrying about logistics. I cannot overstate how much that meant to me.

We did experience one small hiccup the day of (our officiant was double booked and arrived late), but The Hytch team handled it with such grace. They pivoted quickly and generously allowed our celebration to run later so we didn’t lose any time. It meant so much that they cared about making our day whole.

Overall, the entire process was smooth, joyful, and truly breathtaking. I’m beyond grateful for the care, creativity, and hard work that went into making our wedding so beautiful and perfect. I would recommend The Hytch a thousand times over — and I will absolutely be finding another reason to celebrate there again.

My daughter and her fiancé wanted an intimate, simple wedding with just a few family members. They did not want to fuss over lots of details or be stressed by making sure everything was ready on the day of the wedding. The Hytch was the perfect solution, providing a scenic oasis on the bank of the Truckee River for the event, and just the important services of a planner, an officiant and a photographer to make the wedding go smoothly. Gina was very responsive throughout the planning process and made it easy for my daughter and her fiancé. On the wedding day, the Sierra Water Garden was beautiful and peaceful, even in mid-winter (I can imagine it is stunning in the summer). The little house on-site provided a quiet, warm place for my daughter to get ready, and for the couple to have a few minutes of privacy after the ceremony and before the family photos (by the way, the house, newly remodeled and beautifully decorated, is available as an AirBnB – I recommend it for the night before and/or after a wedding, or for any couple just wanting a romantic retreat). Gina gently and efficiently directed the flow of the wedding, the officiant Darren did a great job with the ceremony, and Ashleigh the photographer took amazing photos before, during and after. If you are looking for a small, sweet wedding with minimum fuss and maximum love, I highly recommend the Hytch and the Sierra Water Garden.
P.S. Be sure to check out the plant store across the street, run by the owners of the Sierra Water Garden – it is amazing. We bought the newlywed a gorgeous plant, in a decorative pot with an “Always Love” ceramic ornament adorning it, as a memento of their special day.

My husband and I got engaged in October of 2024 and planned to get married summer of 2026. At random we decided to tour the beautiful location of The Hytch at Sierra Water Gardens and we fell in love with it! The amazing Yeliz and Gina told us that they had an opening in July of 2025, and we were nervous about moving up the date so significantly. The Hytch at SWG team (Ashleigh, Yeliz, and Gina) absolutely made it happen and absolutely exceeded expectations! They supported us every step of the way, and brought my vintage garden wedding dreams to life! I started my new job as a nurse the week of my wedding, and they took all of the stress off of me! They helped me incorporate my vintage china and vintage thrifted glasses into the wedding, and used my grandmother’s crocheted tablecloth that she had made for me prior to her passing in the most beautiful and memorable way! Ashleigh was the most personable photographer with so much knowledge in her field! She made my husband and I feel so comfortable and got our sneak-peak images to us in less than 3 hours after the ceremony! The team was in charge of picking the florals and decorating, and myself, my husband, and our guests were blown away! I told Gina I planned to get my bouquet preserved, so she ensured they were kept safe and in water! My husband and I forgot to get the fruit for our planned “Summer berry water”, and Gina went out of her way to go to the store and get fruit, which did not go unnoticed and was so kind of her! We look through slideshows of our photos regularly and reminisce on how perfect our wedding was. We would absolutely recommend this venue and this team to anyone, we are already brainstorming ways to book this location for future events! Thank you The Hytch at SWG team!

The Hytch experience is difficult to sum up in just 3500 characters! The professionalism, the dedication, care and commitment emanated by this team is so delightfully enchanting that one forgets that they are having an elopement! Our wedding felt as organic and natural as the one we originally planned for, and if I had to do it again, with this team, I’d repeat it 100 times over. My wife & I gave up on our initial venue due to the unrealistic pricing expectations and limitation on what we were and were not allowed to do. One might assume that if a venue + food is the same price as a down payment for a home, creative freedom would be automatic.
We found the Hytch immediately upon deciding that an elopement instead of a traditional wedding would be the correct course of action for us. The Hytch team created a majestic and unforgettable experience tailored to our wedding fantasy and desires to perfection. Skylandia Park encompassed all of the charm and beauty we had hoped for in an outdoors and beautiful but natural venue, and the Hytch team went above and beyond to ensure our day went off worry and stress free. Communication with The Hytch was seamless. My wife & I never felt any pressure during the planning phase, and they were always willing to accommodate us, and we're incredibly sympathetic to our previously botched experiences with our initial wedding venue. Gina & Mackenzie are sweet, considerate, and organically thoughtful people. To sum up our experience with the team, you can tell they are decent and kind individuals, that are in the business of creating perfect and memorable experiences for people that desire an affordable but still unforgettable wedding experience. They pour themselves into their work, and they become vested in you and your day. In this day and age, it is difficult to find such individuals and we are truly thankful to have found them in our time of need.
The officiant, Gregg Katz, is an honest and upfront person. When he called us to introduce himself and begin to understand our story, he was very candid. He let us know who he was, demonstrated his character through our phone conversation, and even provided advice. He was entirely understanding of us wanting to implement an old family tradition of, “Jumping the broom,” and was even curious and open to it. While I was nervous at the altar, he passed the time providing advice and used his own experiences to make the ceremony lighter, as I was becoming a bit of a nervous wreck before my bride arrived. (Thanks Gregg, I appreciate it man!)
Finally, we come to our photographer. I would find it difficult to believe there is another individual who loves her job as much as Ashleigh does. She made us laugh, kept us comfortable, and took beautiful shots of us throughout our wedding, and during our first moments as husband and wife. She too was entirely vested in our experience and made us feel like the center of the universe on our big day. We had a blast and I definitely recommend her as a photographer not only professional ability but personality and character!
If we had to choose again, whether I would choose to do an elopement with The Hytch, or go with a more traditional option, I’d choose The Hytch team in an instant. These folks deserve all the blessings they’ll definitely receive, and I hope The Hytch continues to prosper and grow! Aslo, Gina, thank you for helping us with our wedding license situation as well! If you want a seamless wedding day you need to book with the Hytch! Yeliz assisted us with the timeline and vendor recommendations and kept us on track leading up to the wedding. Not to mention this was a destination wedding with everything getting booked sight unseen so there was a lot more stress and factors. Gina assisted with our rehearsal as well as the day of coordination. My husband and I got married at Tahoe Blue Estate and their familiarity with the venue helped as well!
