This two-story 1800s barn offers a rustic and romantic backdrop for your special day. Bringing in outside vendors and decor allows you the ultimate creative license to create the wedding of your dreams. With access to the barn beginning on Friday, the weekend of your event, and going until Sunday, there is no need to rush or panic. Access to the grounds for yard games, pictures, the ceremony, or an evening bonfire grants the flexibility you need for a day as unique as you.

Facilities and Capacity

The Historic Ellis Barn is situated in Springfield Oaks County Park, where the natural grounds surrounding the event space serve as a beautiful backdrop for your special event. The barn itself features a true gambrel roof and is a beloved local landmark. The Ellis Barn is two stories tall, and an interior stairwell joins the levels. There is also a vertical lift for guests with limited mobility. The lower level features a dance floor and plenty of space for a seated dining experience. For a reception-style setup, the lower level can accommodate 150 guests, and the upper level can accommodate 250 guests. The rental of the barn includes both levels.

History

The Ellis Barn, originally constructed in 1884, was part of Norman J. Ellis's 78-acre Ingomar Stock Farm. This barn represents a significant period of Michigan's agricultural and transportation history. It has remained in the Ellis family since its construction and was recognized as a Michigan Centennial Farm.

The Ellis Barn is happy to welcome outside vendors of your choice. This allows you to have complete control over the decor, food, flowers, photography, and much more. The wedding rental for this venue includes access to the site for a full weekend. This means you can begin setting up for your big day on Friday at noon and have until Sunday at 2 pm to clean up. We also offer a limited number of tables and chairs for a small fee, but you are welcome to use an outside vendor if you prefer.
