About

We became an inn gradually through the late seventies to the early eighties and our guests of that time enjoyed watching the bronze pouring, the zip zip of the silk screen squeegee running colors over each print. These adventurous souls shared our art creations. In those days, gambling, sunburned tourists went to the hotel chains to clink rum-punch filled glasses at golf courses and swimming pools while their curious counterparts became our guests. They found their way into Old San Juan, long before any real hotel had ventured to open. These are only some of the many reasons that the Gallery Inn is a special place. Every corner has a story; every room its special flavor, all of them checker block full of prints, paintings, sculpture and memories from five decades of D’Esopo/Gandia style. Spread through six adjoining buildings going back to the mid seventeen hundreds, we share with you a historic gem, crafted by time, dappled with chunks of history and plied by loving hands, all of which have brought life to these rooms and open spaces. Enjoy! You have entered history!

If you are looking for an intimate, relaxed wedding in a very unique location, this is your place. I originally wanted to do a beach wedding, but all the vendors and hotels were charging extreme amounts for package deals touted at much lower initial prices. I had emailed Jan, and she called me, stating she would have no trouble putting on a wedding within my price range, and offered to get in touch with a classical guitarist and officiant for me. She also offers to make wedding favors for the guests, which were delightful, and again, entirely unique. Chispa, the wedding coordinator, stayed in touch with me during the entire process, and by the time we arrived at the hotel, I was confident that things were going to go well. Indeed, Jan had originally planned for us to be married outside, but when rain and wind thwarted those plans, she easily had another room availalbe. I felt that my wedding was perfect, and I owe a huge part of that to Jan and Chispa.

The year and a half of planning that was done in preparation for our day was filled with trials and tribulations. Seeking a venue through websites and phone calls can seem like a risky game for such an important event. The few photos we could view would leave any couple uneasy as to what the final outcome of a wedding may be but we were overwhelmed by The Gallery Inn upon our arrival. Immediately upon entering we knew we had made the right choice. The Gallery Inn was beyond our wildest dreams. The excitement was enough to bring us to our knees.

The warm welcome we were offered by Jan and the rest of the staff, all the hard work and attention to detail that was paid to make every moment special did not go unnoticed. From the intricacy of the rooms and gardens, to the beautiful music that was arranged, the delicious food (that left our guests speechless) and the beauty of the art surrounding us we couldn't have asked for a better place to share our love for one another.

With family and friends surrounding us we said our vows with the back drop of the beautiful alter, the gardens, the winding pool and the sound of the classical guitarist. Both of us, along with our guests were in awe of all the beauty. Every step of the way we put our faith in the referrals made by Jan and her staff. From the guitarist and accordion player, the officiant (Carlos Lopez), Charisse who made our cake to Michael Rivera who helped with hair and makeup it is obvious that we were in good hands.

We've talked to many married couples who went through their own weddings who would eventually say, "we would never do it again." We have spent the last two weeks after our wedding spending hours discussing the events of our day and would say the exact opposite! If we had this day to do over again we most certainly would and we wouldn't change a single thing. Our wedding was PERFECT! We loved our time spent here and how unique and special it was.

We were truly blessed in not only having our wedding at The Gallery Inn but also being able to come to Puerto Rico. We left a piece of our hearts there and so will be sure to return. Words do not seem enough to truly express how thankful we are to everyone for their efforts in making our day the best day of our lives!
