Exceptional

Summit Grove Lodge was beautiful. All of our guests were very impressed with the venue, staff and food. Mary and her team made our wedding day perfect. Their friendliness, willingness to help was much appreciated. The venue is one of the most beautiful places you can hold your wedding. The antique car, gas pumps, fireplaces, grounds made our day very special. I can not imagine marrying anywhere else. Summit Grove Lodge was beyond amazing.

Loved our wedding

Married Sept 21.2017
The venue was beautiful; the food was excellent!! Thank you, Katie, for all you did for us. The staff was so helpful and friendly. When we went back for brunch a few months later, Katie no longer worked there. She was such a great person.

Perfect setting for a wedding where you want "rustic elegance". Spectacular setting conviently located close to Portland OR and Southern WA. Superb and professional staff that made each step in the planning process so easy. Preparation and quality of the event is second to none. Food choices are endless and very reasonably priced for a high end facility. State of the art sound and video are a great extra for that special slide show! Ceremony setting is amazing with water features, gas torches and artificial turf that guarantees no mud or grass stains on that beautiful white wedding dress! Guests commented that it was the nicest venue they had seen.

Do not have a Summer Wedding here

Held a wedding at Summit Grove Lodge on July 13, 2023. The site was very nice, and our wedding helpers decorated the grounds, inside and out, beautifully. I rate this venue with 2 1/2 stars only based on the pros and cons. Would I have a wedding there again, yes except not in the summer months.

Pros:
• Very accommodating management that provided early site access for our wedding decorators.
• Lovely grounds and building, very Pacific Northwest feel to it.
• Very helpful and friendly staff, with a few exceptions.
• The facility has separate bride and groom rooms to get prepared in.
• Nothing to do with Summit Grove but the photographer (The Candid Photographer) was terrific.

Cons:
• The lack of proper air conditioning. The wedding was held on a day that hit the upper 80’s. At 5:30, dinner was served inside with dancing to follow. With all doors closed the AC was not able to accommodate the heat. The manager first told me that there were problems with the AC and later said there were no AC issues, the problem was in the doors being open. This was not the case as the doors were not held open. The staff confirmed that the AC was not very good and I think the manager just did not want to risk giving us a partial refund for the miserably hot conditions. The whole reception broke up two hours early with people leaving because of the heat. Do not have a wedding here of the temperatures will rise above 70 degrees.
• The food was very mediocre. I feared this after having Sunday brunch there months earlier. Not worth the price at all. I paid for 86 dinners with only 72 showing up. Even then, the chef was very stingy with the beef slices, leaving a near whole roast remaining that I paid for but could not get a decent slice of.
• The bartender was a jerk, but worked out well for us when he sliced his finger open and was replaced with another, friendlier person.
• The DJ (David Efaw Productions) was not good and will leave a separate review of him.

My wedding at Summit Grove was gorgeous, amazing and so much fun. This was all due to the work of myself, fiancé, family, friends and some incredible vendors. The venue itself is beautiful and our pictures turned out great. The wait staff were all very nice and helpful. Many of them complimented us on how organized and fun the wedding was. However, there are some major issues with the management of Summit Grove that I think everyone planning a wedding there should be aware of.
The manager Peter is extremely difficult to work with. He is very hard to get a hold of. He does not email and seldom returns phone calls. There were many times when we were told we would be called back with an answer to a question but never were. My other major issue with Peter is he was constantly talking negatively about other brides and weddings. It was clear he does not enjoy his job and complained about it many times. Peter seems disorganized and was always mixing up our weddings with others. We scheduled an appointment to meet with him about 2 weeks before the wedding to go over final details. We showed up at the venue and he had completely forgotten about the meeting. I had to consistently follow up with Peter and remind him of the commitments he made.
Summit Grove lost our wedding cake. We had a whole sheet cake and a 2-tier cake left over. This was boxed up by staff for us to take home. However, this was never given to us. The day after our wedding we stopped by the venue to pick up our left over cake. They could not find it. We were told by Peter that we would receive a call later that day once he looked into this. We never received a call. I called again when we returned from our honeymoon. Peter said he would look into it and call back. We never received a call back. Two months after our wedding we received a letter stating that they found our wedding cake. The box had fallen in between a wall and shelf.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
