We made a great decision when we decided on Subtle Approach for our wedding reception. The food was wonderful -- from the appetizers (endive bites, cheese puffs with onion jam, ahi bite), to salads (northwest salad, caesar salad) and main meal (pork roast, salmon). We wanted quality food and we got it. There were so many compliments after the event about how good the food was.

They took care of so many of the details so we didn't have to worry -- from picking up rentals, setting the tables beautifully, serving champagne, cutting the cake, even picking up alcohol and extras from our house before the event. Guests commented that they were attentive to special diets and sought out those who needed accommodating to be sure they got the right thing.

We couldn’t be happier that we chose Subtle Approach to cater our wedding! The food was absolutely amazing—every dish was so flavorful and beautifully done, and our guests are still talking about it. We took home a few portions of leftovers, and in the days after the wedding, our friends and family fought over them! Chef Kyle was wonderful to work with from the very beginning. He was super responsive to all of our questions while we were planning and made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. On the day itself, the whole team was kind, professional, and attentive to every detail. They also handled dietary restrictions and allergies very thoughtfully—our guests with special meals felt just as cared for as everyone else, and the food was just as delicious. Chef Kyle is truly exceptional—this was a Michelin-level dining experience at an incredibly fair price. My husband and I are serious foodies who’ve dined everywhere from Boston to Seattle, and Kyle’s cooking easily ranks in our top 5 of over 100 New American restaurants we’ve tried in the Seattle area.

From start to finish, Kyle was warm, professional, and a joy to work with. He was open to our ideas, crafted a kid-friendly menu with care, and paid close attention to allergies. We even shared cocktail inspiration and his team delivered beautifully—so much so that guests were asking us for the recipe afterward!

On the day of the wedding, his whole team was amazing—efficient, kind, and always smiling. They created a meal that felt elevated yet deeply personal, and helped make our wedding feel both elegant and relaxed. I can’t recommend Kyle enough for any couple who truly cares about food and hospitality. A total standout.

My husband and I were married on September 1st and we used Subtle Approach as our caterer, venue set up and bar tending. Kyle and his team are AMAZING. We cannot recommend them enough. Throughout the entire process, Kyle was so accommodating, knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with; we always looked forward to our meetings with him.
Kyle's food is so delicious. We had multiple guests gush about the food, saying it was the best wedding food they've ever had and asking who the caterer was. In the early stages of our wedding planning, my husband said he wanted to the food to be one of the highlights and with Subtle Approach we accomplished that in a way greater than we even imagined!

Kyle’s team cooked the food onsite at Thornewood which I think contributed to it tasting so great. Most wedding caterers are notorious for tasting bad or bland but the beef that Kyle cooked was honestly better than any restaurant I’ve ever tasted. All their other food was top notch, too. I was surprised with their vegetarian option – roasted cauliflower with a special butter sauce and cherry tomatoes. I love meat but when we tried the cauliflower at the tasting, I was surprised that vegetables could taste that good.

For our tasting session, they offered it to us free of charge which we soon found out was because they were so confident in the quality of their food. We even showed up to the tasting 30 minutes late so the food had been sitting and we still loved it. Before Subtle Approach, we tried a tasting with a much more popular caterer who charged us $100 and the food was terrible.

Subtle Approach was very accommodating to us changing our order many times before the wedding and handled all the necessary rentals for dining. Their prices were around average or maybe a bit below average when compared to quotes we got from a few other caterers.

Overall, I would highly recommend Kyle’s team at Subtle Approach for any catering event because of how amazing their food is! Given the slightly below average price, they are an exceptional value!

I can't stop talking about how happy we are we decided to use Subtle Approach. The service was spectacular, the food was OUTSTANDING and the waitstaff were so incredibly friendly and fun. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to knock the socks off of their guests for any occasion. I can't wait for the next event we can use them for!

We had a wedding reception at Thronewood castle, and Subtle Approach Catering did a great job at castle wedding plates dinner. Chef, Kyle is talented amazing skills. Their appetizers at cocktail hour, guests were so happy and plates dinner and staff server was great. Coordinator Barbro is a professional advice for the menue & tasting and designed beautiful wedding menue arrangement at the castle.
We believe this catering company service and chef's skill is the top level in WA states.
And costs was reasonable. We highly recommend this catering company for people who are going to search their event.

Having Subtle Approach do the catering for our wedding was the best choice we could have made! Not only were the dishes unique and incredibly delicious, but we were so impressed by Kyle and Barbro’s kindness, thoughtfulness, and willingness to be flexible to accommodate ALL dietary restrictions. Our guests felt this too and had so many compliments to give, not only about the food but also about the impeccable service from the entire Subtle Approach team. Kyle was also so helpful in the planning process, as he helped us figure out what rentals we’d need and then organized everything with the rental company after we'd made our choices. It was so nice to be able to have such a caring and professional team to depend on and Subtle Approach was a HUGE reason our wedding day went so perfectly! They even offered to cut our cake and pour champagne for toasts for no extra charge (which might seem silly but were not services offered by other caterers we talked to)!
