Being Catholic, I knew from the get-go that I wanted to get married in the church. My husband is a non-baptized person and I was nervous about how certain churches would perceive our marriage. I contacted St. John Vianney and received the sweetest call from Deacon Joe. I knew after our talk that God connected me with where I was supposed to say my vows. We do not live in St. Pete and he and the Priscilla outlined exactly what I needed to do to be married at the church. We did complete our Pre-Cana at our home church (and it was wonderful as we grew closer getting to know the issues we will experience as a couple), but the process to get all the information from our church to St. John was smooth.
We had a unique wedding with Filipino traditions, but no communion. Priscilla researched everything, outlined everything, and was absolutely on point with the service. Crystal played the organ, piano, and sang beautifully for our ceremony - she discussed in detail the music with myself. Holly and Priscilla were a calming presence as we lost our "cord" and "veil" for the Filipino traditions and helped my family figure out an alternative - I did not even have to get out of the Bride's room because they were on top of everything. As for Deacon Joe, his homily and service were simply beautiful and heartfelt. I had several friends and family tell me that it reminded them of their vows and that the Deacon really cared about us as a couple and our marriage. He had a smile on the whole time and really made us excited to say our vows under God's presence.
The ceremony was everything to me. It was not until Priscilla showed us around the church that I started to feel really emotional about my marriage. I felt welcomed in their community and would absolutely join their Parish if I lived closer. The whole crew made me feel like I made the most beautiful vows under God and I could not be happier.
