I can't say enough good things about Southern Exposure Salon! I found Southern Exposure with a simple google search of the area. I procrastinated a little bit so I was very nervous about finding someone to do hair and makeup. Val immediately put me at ease and was very pleasant to work with via email. I also called and made an appointment to get a mani/pedi for the big day. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere in the salon was fun and cheerful. Lauren did a great job on my nails and was super pleasant!

As for the hair and makeup - I could not be more pleased! Maddie did an amazing job on my hair and on my bridesmaid's hair. I met her the day before the wedding in the salon and knew we'd be a good fit. She was extremely personable and easy to talk to. Sharmane did makeup for myself and for both bridesmaids and we all came out looking absolutely stunning. She was also extremely easy to be around and so friendly. It was like having two additional friends in the room getting ready with us. Not only did we look wonderful but they were a joy to have around while getting ready.

I was very nervous because I didn't do a trial run due to time constraints. I live out of town and was only in Keystone the week of the wedding and my schedule was already insane. I showed each of them a picture on pinterest of the style of what I liked and they were AMAZING!! I'm not a very picky person but of course wanted to look and feel beautiful on my wedding day and they delivered. Don't be like me and skip the trial run. I would highly recommend doing a trial first if only to get to know these girls before your big day. You won't be disappointed!

Just worked with Maddie, Ashley, Caz, and Rosie for my wedding in keystone. Everything was amazing. The girls did a fantastic job and were so, so helpful. Myself and bridesmaids were a little nervous at first, but it turned out to be fantastic!!! I highly recommend this place!

This whole salon rallied around me, my seven bridesmaids, my mom, and my flower girl! We all got our hair done and about 1/2 of us got make up done. I loved my trial, and the day of my wedding I loved everything even more! All of the stylists were nice, accommodating, and personable making for a fantastic and fun morning having bagels and mimosas before my big day. The manager kept in close contact with me while planning and even stopped by to say hello the morning of. If you are having your wedding in Summit County I would highly recommend this salon!!! I couldn’t be happier with my perfect look on the best day of my life!

Had my hair and make-up done by Allie and Caz at Southern Exposure for our wedding, and it turned out amazing! After trying a couple different things during the trial, Allie totally got what I wanted and it turned out perfect on the big day! Caz did my make-up and not only is she sweet and lovely, but she made me feel beautiful too.

On the wedding day, they also did hair and make-up for my 4 bridesmaids, who also looked and felt beautiful! They stayed within our timeline, and we were in and out at exactly the times we were supposed to be! I would definitely recommend, but make sure you do a trial (even if it's just 1 or 2 days before the wedding)!

I booked Caz to do my makeup along with my bridesmaids for my wedding last month in September. First of all, I saved makeup for last and I was scrambling to find someone who was available and Valerie at Southern Exposure was very accommodating. She got me in for a trial right away and was open with communication throughout the entire process. Caz is awesome! She is super high energy, and fun to work with. She came up with a great look for my trial, but I had a few notes to make it softer for the wedding day and that is exactly what she did. She did a beautiful job with my girls and we all felt so pretty that day. Thank you so much!

First, my makeup was flawless. Caz did an amazing job and I couldn't have been happier. I was on the fence about getting my makeup professionally done for my wedding. I am so glad I decided to go for it. It was beautiful and waterproof.
Unfortunately my hair is a different story. A few weeks before the wedding I sent pictures to the stylist so she knew what to expect. The day before my wedding I had the trial run. She talked me out of what I wanted, long curls, because she said I had too much hair and it would be hard to get it to stay. I reluctantly agreed to the Hollywood style glam hair. The trial came out looking pretty good. She convinced me to come back in the morning for a haircut, and that would make my hair stay much better. What I ended up with on my wedding day was hair that was 6 inches shorter, that fell before the reception even started and a clip that fell out twice before it was finally lost. By the end of the night my hair was just straight and messy. The worst part of all was that for the hair, makeup and travel fees I spent over $500 on hair and makeup just for me.
The salon owner and the stylist ended up refunding me $90. $40 for the haircut that I didn't want and $50 to make up for my bad experience. I appreciate the owner trying to make things right. However nothing can fix bad hair on your wedding day.

Terrible experience and rude owner

I had my bride tribes hair and make up done here the day of my wedding. I must say this was a very disappointing experience and I DO NOT recommend them for your wedding day needs. To start they provided us with one hair stylist and one make up artist when five of us needed hair and makeup services. This absorbed our entire morning (seriously the entire morning we were at the salon from 8-12)! The makeup artist Victoria was great, all our make up photographed very well and the artist was passionate about her job. She did not do anything Pinterest worthy, but it was a great base for us to add onto.

However, our hair stylist Maddie barely styled anyone’s hair. She told my maid of honor that the fish tail braid she wanted was “gaudy and over the top”. My best friend had been growing her hair out for two years so she could pull it off such a beautiful braid and was just shot down in a incredibly rude and unprofessional way. The stylist then did an overly loose basic French braid with super loose curls that fell out before we even left the salon. Thinking back on it, I suspect she probably didn’t have the skill to do a fishtail braid that’s why she denied her request…

When it came to my hair (the bride) she admitted to not really looking at my Pinterest, even tho I sent it earlier in the week. I wanted big Hollywood red carpet waves and one of my sides pinned back. I do my hair like this all the time, it’s my “go to”, but it was my special day so I wanted it done professionally. She DID NOT deliver. She did not put enough products like hairspray or styling spray in. My hair was barely holding a curl. I had to ask her to put more tighter curls in and not loosen them Bc her curls were waaayy too loose already and falling out. Even with this request they were all overly loose. I explained how I needed my style to last for several hours and all I could think at this time is “I need to leave so I can fix my hair before pics”. My pics started at 12 and this was probably 11ish so I was feeling very behind schedule and not relaxed.

The same stylist was not following my mother in laws request and then just offered to let her do her own hair. My mother in law did end up doing her own hair and the salon had the audacity to still charge for it.

I sent the owner Valerie an email airing my grievances about my experience and all she said was “thank you for the feedback.” I then had to ask her if she was going to refund me for the service not performed. She made it clear in her follow up email, my issue was beneath her and provided me with a refund for the service not performed and a “take care”.

I cannot get over how disappointed I am and how terrible her customer service skills are. She could care less that we were unhappy and my hair looked like crap on my big day. I threw a curl in on the front in the few minutes I had to get dressed. Below is what a $120 hair style by Southern Exposure will look like on your wedding day. These pictures were taken less than an hour after leaving the salon.

Btw they make you pay an 18% automatic gratuity too which is completely backwards Bc this hair stylist didn’t even have to work for it which showed through this entire experience.

My hair and makeup trials with Maddie and Caz went very well. I was excited about them doing my wedding. The day of was a completely different story. We had hired Caz first, she gave us a price quote and a reccomendation to have our hair done through Southern Exposure. The salon prices were higher than Caz's...but she wanted the salon to handle the paperwork, confused yet? So were we, with little clarification about the $700 bill for my mother and I. My wedding makeup was nothing like my trial makeup. I thought we were doing a shimmery light eye with pink lipstick (that I loved so much I bougth from Caz, after my trial) Wedding day makeup was super dark brown with orange lipstick. I barely had enough time to try to fiz my lipstick because they had us so far behind schedule. The boddy pins were popping out of my hair 5 mins after getting out of the chair and by the time I left the house the bottom half of my updo was hanging in a pony tail. We text and called the girls and also the manager of the salon, Valerie and got no response.
The other hair stylist, Ashley, was completely rude. She snapped at one of my bridesmaids and my mother in law. Apparently we were stressing her out! And the second makeup artist couldn't make a move without being directed with what to do.
The worst part about all of this, I had to contact the manager of the salon again about the questionable billing and to complain about the services, she was rude and not accomadating at all. They had a chance to fix the problem and make it right, they choose to decline.
They were the ONLY complaint I have about my wedding day. I would have been better off doing my own hair and makeup and I would have saved a lot of money. Super, super disappointing on such an important day. The only reason they are getting half a star is because I can't give them less.
