I had my wedding at Settlers Bay Lodge in May. Trying to get ahold of the manager is like pulling arms and teeth. He only works certain hours at night and we had questions that weren't answered on the website. The night of my wedding we waited for EVER for someone to serve our drinks to guests and to the head table so we could start the toasts. Eventually we just had to start the toasts with empty glasses and my mother-in-law had to talk to them to get it together! By the end of the night about half the tables had the specialty drinks. They tried to over-charge us and not tell us what it was for, and they didn't give us all the leftovers for the food. Terrible service. However, the food was fantastic.Sent on 06/13/2017

We had our wedding at Settler's Bay Lodge, we were really dissappointed. At first they told us we could bring our own alcohol at no extra charge and then when we told them we wanted to (when we put in our dinner orders) they said that we couldn't bring our own and that they must have been mistaken. So we decided to use up to 15 bottles of champagne and pay for however many we used. Well, the groom's father decided to pay for the bar in case anyone wanted anything else so Settler's Bay decided to not give out any champagne except for the toasting glass and put it all on the bar. Not only that but the caterer's bf was there drinking on our tab, and so were employees! It was ridiculous, and one more thing, we decided to put the food out buffet style and they didn't even leave it out for half an hour, the took it away and no one was even able to go up and get seconds, let alone the people who couldn't make it right on time! It was an expensive horrible experience. And then the next day we went to use our ATM card for some breakfast and it was declined, we found out it was because not only did settler's bay put a hold on the account for the ammount of the wedding, but also put a hold on an extra 20%! It was returned but we were out of that money for our honeymoon and had to borrow from his parents!Sent on 11/06/2007
