We worked with Russ for our wedding and engagement photos and we love his work! Russ was on the recommended list for our venue, and after checking out his portfolio we knew we had to reach out to him. After an initial consult, we chose to go with Russ. We first met Russ at our engagement shoot. We are both relatively shy and uncomfortable in front of the camera, but Russ made us feel at ease. We love our engagement photos and love our wedding photos even more. Russ was so easy to work with on the wedding day - he was on time, communicative, and helpful. We are so beyond thankful that we had Russ Levi as our wedding photographer!! From the very first meeting, he was so kind and clear that he wanted to help fulfill OUR vision. We definitely wanted to share with all the couples out there about our wonderful experience with him.

Russ was super fun to have for our big day. The bridesmaids love to joke around, and we were being silly throughout our “getting ready” time. Russ captured our ridiculous personalities, and was even game to jump in with a joke or two.

When it came to photographing the wedding ceremony and reception, we were so delighted to see the pictures because we have a great balance of the typical photos you expect to see (walking down the aisle, kiss, formal family photos, speeches, first dance, etc.) but also some really sweet yet unexpected moments (a young cousin napping, us newlyweds cracking up at a ceremony mishap, guests dancing up a storm, us being competitive at a Street Fighter 6 arcade station that we had set up for the guests, etc.)

It was during the outdoor photo session with the wedding party and close family, however, that Russ’s vision and experience in the Sonoma/Bay Area really shined. Russ knew our wedding venue like the back of his hand, and he took us to many different locations at the venue. As a result, we now have a diverse combination of natural, artwork, and vineyard photos to treasure forever. He captured so many different styles – we have glam, we have silly, we have traditional, and more! The grooms party in particular has a flair for the dramatic, and Russ made our dream of looking like GQ models a reality. Russ was great in giving us very helpful directions for posing and—looking back at the photos—we love his visualization and composition! Finally, he KNOWS his golden hours so we have absolutely gorgeous sunset photos. He knew exactly when and where to take us to capture the beauty of our venue.

In sum, we highly, highly, highly recommend Russ Levi as your wedding photographer.

Russ is amazing! We first did an engagement shoot with him, which turned out beautiful. He's very experienced with what locations, poses, and lighting make for the best photos. Russ was incredibly professional and fun to work with! He is fair and transparent with pricing and helped coach us to make the most efficient use of our time. On our wedding day, he arrived on time and did an awesome job capturing key moments, guest interactions and our couples photos! Russ responds quickly to messages and we appreciated his suggestions for photoshoot locations in the city. The photo sharing site he uses is also easy to navigate.

Starting with our early conversations, we could immediately tell that Russ was an intelligent and talented photographer. He broke down Nestldown's timeline and explained everything that we could expect leading up to our wedding. He also understood that we weren't used to taking professional photos which is why we decided to use him as our photographer for our engagement photos.

Russ is by far the most spectacular vendor we worked with for our September 2019 wedding! I found Russ' portfolio online and his photos were stunning- deep colors, contrast, lively and full of expression- and not overly exposed and washed out like is the trend with most engagement and wedding photos I see. We hired Russ to do our engagement photos, and from the moment we arrived, he was so friendly and made us feel immediately comfortable. He expertly provided direction as he took our photos but also captured gorgeous candid shots throughout. When he shared the photo gallery with us, we were blown away! It was a no brainer to hire Russ to do our wedding photos as well. On our wedding day, Russ and his co-photographer were prompt and brought such a positive and fun energy. The photos he captured are INCREDIBLE! So much raw emotion and an eye for capturing gorgeous light and scenery. We wholeheartedly recommend Russ! He is SO talented!

The amount of excitement, love and happiness from what he was able to capture is so evident, it’s almost tangible. If there’s one vendor you can rely on without a doubt, it’s him. He was our favorite wedding vendor and worth every. single. penny. Throughout the entire planning process, he was extremely professional - he was always the first to communicate and respond to our inquiries/emails (even when he was out of the country shooting for other weddings), he was honest, gave great suggestions, he was always punctual when meeting with us, and he was especially flexible when the wedding timeline did not go as planned. Most of all, his talent is unparalleled. Being able to view our wedding day through his perception is such a special experience because of the different angles he chooses, his ability to find the best lighting, and his quick adaptability to any situation. We never had to worry about him getting the right shot because we placed our full trust in him. From the moment he stepped in to meet my husband for wedding prep to our sparkler exit at the end, he was constantly taking shots so all of the unforgettable details and candid moments we will cherish forever and can now relive anytime we want.

A suggestion for future brides: Consider hiring a second shooter. We absolutely do not regret opting for a 2nd. Russ chose a photographer with a very similar visual aesthetic compared to his own and the combination of both of their photos were perfection.

Overall, HIRE RUSS. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Russell is truly an artist. He did a fantastic job from start to finish.

We did our engagement session at the California Academy of Sciences, which we were hesitant about because of the crowds but Russell was willing to take on the challenge. You don’t even notice the other people. Russell found the ideal locations around the museum to stop us to take photos and he so wonderfully captured our silliness as we engaged in the exhibits.

Russell checked in with us multiple times leading up to the wedding and it was always easy to get ahold of him. As we planned our timeline for the wedding, he was very helpful with providing estimates on how long it would take to get all of our different combinations of photos and with suggestions on changes to the timeline that would make things easier on us.

On the day of the wedding, he was professional, calm, but most importantly, he had a great, positive attitude. He was unobtrusive during the ceremony and reception, which I am very thankful for. I didn’t even notice him but he still captured every moment so beautifully. When we first viewed the slideshow of the photos, I cried. Looking at the photos made me relive our special day. The candid photos perfectly capture the emotion that was felt in that moment. In our couple shots, you can feel the love between us and how happy we are. Our wedding party photos and our various family portraits are stunning. Russell paid close attention to balance when telling people where to sit, stand, or where to look. I am seriously blown away with how all of our photos turned out.
