We originally found Dog through a recommendation from our venue (Boathouse at Rocketts Landing). We were planning our Richmond wedding from our home in Chesapeake, but Doug was great to find a time to meet with us when we were making trips up to Richmond. He was very personable and was able to help us plan the ceremony that we wanted. He gave us suggestions for different readings, vows, and other aspects of the ceremony. Doug helped us plan the perfect ceremony. He was there to help us and meet with us twice before the wedding as well as at the rehearsal on Friday. Even our guests and wedding party made comments about how great Doug was both at rehearsal and during the ceremony. We could not have asked for a better officiant.

A former co-worker recommended Rev. Bowman to me. He has a great sense of humor and was therefore, easy to work with. He had an overall sense of ease that helped both my husband and I to feel comfortable, especially during the rehearsal. Rev. Bowman took the lead and walked us through step by step. There was not a whole lot of flexibility with the ceremony though. I had outlined our idea for the ceremony and Rev. Bowman made adjustments of his own. He did ask me first and I agreed due to the fact that he obviously has experience with weddings. I do not regret this but felt it necessary to mention in this review. It was a beautiful wedding regardless!

Doug was flexible in the planning of our ceremony. We wanted to try something a little bit different (we used hand fasting vows) and he was willing to work with us and help us in the design and implementation of our plan. He was easy to meet with (we met twice before the day of the rehearsal and he was on time to all meetings. I'm not sure how much an officiant charges as he came recommended and we didn't look anywhere else, but it seemed fairly reasonable. He has a good speaking voice and he doesn't insist on staying for dinner :)! We communicated a lot through e-mail and he didn't always catch everything that I wrote and attached, so make sure that you follow up in person and don't wait until the last minute and assume that he's gotten all of the info that you sent to him.
