Josh and I couldn't speak more highly of our experience with Our Lady of the Seas. Father Fred, Anita, (and the location) was the reason we decided to have our wedding in Buxton, NC (7 hours from our home). First, Father Fred is one of the most honest and accommodating Catholic priests you will ever meet. Josh is Lutheran and I'm catholic and Father Fred offered any "believers in Christ" (not just catholics) to receive communion at our wedding. He was also incredibly easy to talk to and very REAL. He also was a hoot at our rehearsal dinner. Anita is also AMAZING. She helped me through some bumps in the road (with other vendors) while wedding planning and even offered to keep our dog, who happens to be a pitbull, at her home for the week since our rental house wouldn't allow dogs lol. The view from this church is ONE OF A KIND and makes for a magical wedding experience. If you're Catholic and getting married on the outer banks, do yourself a favor and get married at Our Lady of the Seas!!!

A very great place to start! We had our Wedding Reception here in the Event Hall~which is absolutely gorgeous juniper wood throughout! It is beautiful on its own so any decorations you add literally are like icing on the cake! Absolutely no doubt Anita Bills was very instrumental in answering any & all our questions! From table dimensions & seating, to some ideas as to how it had been decorated in the past to help you get your creative mind going. The kitchen has great space for caterers. The bathrooms are roomy, a good thing when trying to maneuver the bride's wedding dress! There is a beautiful wraparound deck that is covered and was a perfect place for supervised toddlers to burn off some extra energy without bumping into tables. Space inside was never an issue though~ plenty of room to seat guests comfortably and still have enough dancing room!

So thankful for everyone at Our Lady of the Seas - especially Linda Browning, who prepared all of the music and sang during the ceremony, Anita Bills, who helped me plan everything and answered all of my never ending emails and questions, and Father Bob Brown, who just a couple weeks before the wedding volunteered to do our ceremony when our previous priest bailed on us due to travel restrictions. We had our ceremony in the beautiful wooden beamed church, which also has a glass wall behind the altar with a gorgeous view of the sound, and we had the reception at the church's event hall, which was the perfect size for our 80 guests.

Our Lady of the Seas is a beautiful church. The view of the sound is amazing. I went to a wedding there 3 years ago and I was in love and decided to get married there. Even if it was far, it was more reasonable than Dc area. Also the church hall was great for reception and getting both was very affordable. The wood looks makes it very natural looks, which it doesn't need a lot of decorations. Everyone that I talked from the church was very helpful, nice an warm. Anita was a sweetheart, always answering to my e-mails, questions and coming to meet us when we were in town. It was a wonderful experience!!!

Our Lady of the Seas is the most beautiful church- if you haven't been there, you should go! Fr. Fred is fantastic, and is able to make all feel welcome in this church.

Our Lady of the Seas is a stunning venue. Both my husband and I are Catholic and, while most churches are beautiful, I would never in a million years believe I'd get married in a church this beautiful!

They made the process fairly easy, particularly since we were bringing the Deacon from my childhood church in MD down to NC to officiate in the wedding. They were also extremely flexible in terms of what we included (or didn't include) in the ceremony and how we wanted it run. I know some churches are very strict, but they were flexible which allowed us to bring a lot of our personality into a Catholic ceremony.

It is a bit costly if you are not a member, especially when I thought most churches were free, but with its beauty, the backdrop of the bay, the enclosed private space, the acoustics, and the air conditioning in the summer I wouldn't have wanted to get married anywhere else, so it was more than worth it for us! Unforgettable!
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
