The Office of University Events and Conference Services at Salve Regina University supports the institution’s academic mission by overseeing the thoughtful use of campus spaces for weddings and select private events. Located on our oceanside campus in Newport, Rhode Island, we provide planning resources that reflect the University’s values of hospitality, scholarship, and community.

Welcome to Ochre Court at Salve Regina University—where timeless elegance meets the sparkling shores of Newport’s Cliff Walk. Picture exchanging vows inside a majestic French Gothic “castle,” complete with soaring turrets, stained-glass windows, and sweeping ocean views. Built in 1892, Ochre Court blends historic grandeur with modern comfort, offering an unforgettable setting for up to 200 guests. For couples seeking a Catholic ceremony, Our Lady of Mercy Chapel provides a beautiful option on campus, and our experienced events team can also help guide you to alternative ceremony sites if desired.

Beyond Ochre Court, Salve Regina’s campus offers three distinctive venues to complement every part of your celebration:

• McAuley Hall (formerly the Vinland Estate): A striking red sandstone Gilded Age mansion with a scenic terrace and expansive lawn overlooking the Cliff Walk—ideal for receptions, rehearsal dinners, or post-wedding brunches.

• Young Building (Fairlawn Mansion): Located on historic Bellevue Avenue, this Queen Anne-style estate features a grand ballroom and richly detailed gathering spaces, perfect for showers, welcome parties, or more intimate celebrations.

• Cliffside Lawns and Terraces: Outdoor spaces along the Cliff Walk that can be tented for breathtaking oceanfront receptions beneath Newport’s legendary sunsets.

Each venue, indoors and out, is fully accessible and designed with flexibility to host weddings, rehearsal dinners, showers, brunches, and private parties. Every package includes a five-hour reception, tables and chairs with full setup and breakdown, and professional planning support—ensuring your event is seamless and uniquely yours.
