We had a VERY odd experience with this company, but it could not have ultimately turned out better. Long story short, my fiancé ended up talking with Jet at Novori about loose diamonds because I found an engagement ring setting I loved at their sister (???) company, Sareen Jewelry. We almost did not end up purchasing the ring through these companies because of the bizarre business practices: Novori is incorporated in Washington, but does business in LA at the same address as Sareen.

After doing some BBB and business record searches, my fiancé ultimately decided to make the purchase from Sareen/Novori ... only to have the owner at Sareen ask him to send copies of the front and back of his credit card and drivers license to ensure that he was a legitimate buyer. While I can understand Sareen's reluctance to sell high-dollar items without purchaser confirmation, I hope they understand the risk of theft (monetary and identity) they're asking customers to take on, and can come up with a more secure way of validating their customers.

We eventually ended up wiring the money for the purchase to make sure that it was secure, and although the process was a hassle, I'm SO glad we did. The ring that Sareen built and modified for us is perfect, and the diamond that Jet found for it is absolutely magnificent. We got an unbelievable deal on the entire purchase, and had it appraised three weeks later for nearly twice what we paid for it. The appraiser, who is a senior member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, took one look at it and said, "BEAUTIFUL diamond!" So despite the oddness of establishing the security of this major purchase, the product overwhelmingly made up for it and we ended up buying my customized wedding band from Novori (and Sareen) as well.

I bought a 1.01 carrot diamond with tension setting (Sareen design) from these guys. I'm on the east coast (USA) they're on the west coast so buying a diamond ring online was nerve racking enough. Initial service was ok, a little sporadic, and it took awhile for them to get in touch with details, especially since i'd just wired 8k to them.

Long story short my wife had the ring two months and the diamond chipped along one edge...!!
The reason for this is the Princess cut diamond placed in a tension setting with corners protruding is, apparently, "weaker". Now I'm not a jeweler or a diamond dealer or someone who buys a lot of jewelry. My basic understanding of a diamond is that they are exceptionally strong (within reason). You would think if a diamond is going to be compromised when it is placed into a specific setting the jeweler might mention it or suggest something else or at least make you aware of this..? they did not!!

So once i contacted them to see what could be done they graciously declined to be of much help... They could shave the diamond down, depreciating the value of what was an exceptional diamond, (E, VVS1, 1.01, Very Good). that was it!!!

Considering it was only worn for 2months i would expect for something of that value to be replaced and they take the loss in cost of shaving the diamond down..!! considering it was more than likely over tensioned or just badly set.

Needless to say i am trying to name and shame them... and i would suggest NOT USING THEM...!!
