History

Noriega House’s history begins in 1872 when Faustino Mier emigrated from Spain. He settled in California with his uncle, taking the surname Noriega. In the following years, Faustino became a businessman and married his wife, Louisa. In 1900, they built their home in Bakersfield and used the property as a lodge for fellow Basque immigrants. Now a classic estate for events, the manor retains its 20th-century charm.

A Dreamy Evening!

I cannot express enough how absolutely perfect this venue was for our family wedding. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and much of that is thanks to Michelle and the incredible Noriega Staff.

From our very first meeting, Michelle was a true gem. Her attention to detail and commitment to making our vision a reality was evident every step of the way. She played an instrumental role in creating a very detailed and intimate sunset wedding that we and our guests will cherish forever.

The atmosphere was set beautifully, with an amazing violinist providing enchanting music that added a touch of elegance to the ceremony. The DJ kept the energy high and the dance floor lively throughout the evening, making for unforgettable memories.

The cocktail hour was delightful, and the dinner was simply delicious, surpassing our expectations. The flow of the evening was seamless, thanks to Michelle's expert coordination, ensuring everything went off without a hitch.

The decor was exquisite, capturing the essence of our theme and adding to the overall ambiance. Every element came together perfectly, creating a magical experience for everyone in attendance.

We are beyond satisfied and deeply grateful to Michelle and the Noriega Staff for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for making our wedding not just an event, but an unforgettable evening that we will always hold dear. Highly recommended!

The house itself is beautiful, inside the house is perfect for small, intimate weddings. i would say one of the issues i had with that was the fact that you have to go up stairs for the inside ceremony room, and a few of our guests had a really hard time going up the stairs, also i had wanted to have the ceremony inside, but the reception outside, i still had to pay as if i was having the ceremony/reception outside which was a lot more money.. that didn't make sense to me.

The Noriega House is absolutely beautiful as far as Bakersfield venues are concerned. The garden area is magical when decorated and adorned for a ceremony. Nikki is great to work with; she keeps it professional and responds to all correspondence in a timely manner. The only downside with this venue, if there is one, is their lack of flexibility when it comes to policies. They are very strict with their kitchen usage, alcohol limitations, and usage of the facilities. If you do not use their caterer, or you bring any food from outside, you absolutely cannot access their kitchen (even just to leave something in the fridge so that it doesn't melt in heat). They do not allow liquor or any alcohol brought onto the property that isn't purchased through them, which can be inconvenient and very costly for a wedding. Prior to an event you only receive an hour or two for set-up, any additional time you may need is an extra cost. These are absolutely not deal breakers for such a gorgeous venue, but are definitely things to be aware of when selecting a location. The price is reasonable, especially considering Nikki's coordinating services are included. I can't imagine having had my wedding anywhere else in town.

With the proper staff our event could have been amazing. The garden, gazebo, stage and dance floor were beautiful. The staff was unprofessional and I wish that they were dressed formal, or at least not so casual. They were amateurs fore sure, except for the coordinator, she was only one person and needed a more responsive and self motivated staff. The gal at the bar, hardly smiled. Customer Service in terms of friendliness, was a fail. Sorry ladies, guess I expected a bit more professionalism.

Cute place, terrible everything else

I was supposed to get married here in November and I'm so thankful I didn't. Michelle is dishonest and rude. This place knows what it is doing. It says multiple times in the contract no refunds so when they ghost you and you cancel they don't have to pay you! As soon as we sent over our deposit Michelle stopped responding to me. She told us she would give us vendor information and quotes for flowers however 5 months before the wedding we had zero information! When I tried to text her it would be weeks later with a response, if we even got one. Finally I told her because of the lack of communication and follow through we wouldn't have our wedding there and magically she text back immediately with a story about a family emergency and asking for grace. I completely understand emergencies but why couldn't she say that over the months I was trying to get information? I asked her not for the deposit back but for the $2000 we paid towards our bill because she failed to uphold her part in the contract and refused and said the things she said was not written down anywhere so I have no proof. She is correct. She told me verbally what she was willing to do for us. Now I realize it was just to get our deposit and she had no Intention of doing what she promised! I read the negative reviews and still tried this place out and that was my mistake! DO NOT HAVE YOUR EVENTS HERE! I would highly recommend Casa Merced Venue if you are looking for honestly, communication and professional people willing to bend over backwards for your event!

Terrible Venue

When we booked over a year ago (June 2019) for our October 2020 wedding, we loved the venue! First red flag was that even though we had an appointment, Michelle showed up and did not have a price pamphlet for us so I was not able to see what we were getting. After it was emailed to us, we ended up booking. The original contract we signed was only 2 paragraphs long and there was nothing in there about refunds or all payments being nonrefundable.
Communication with her was absolutely horrible. After we put our deposit down, it would take 2-4 weeks to get a response for any questions we had. We paid the first payment (1/2 of total cost). COVID hit and I started to ask questions in June about what would happen with our wedding. I asked about refunds if we canceled due to uncertainty. 3 days later, I get an email of a new contract that has an additional 4 pages of fine print (not in the original 2 paragraph contract we signed) and a few hours later a response saying they don’t give refunds and it says it in the contract. I asked where it said that in the contract and sent back a copy of the one we signed and she told me that it is said in person while touring the venue!!! Ummm, what?? That’s NOT a contract!! When I started questioning about money, the responses were almost instant which is weird compared to always having to wait at least 2 weeks to hear back from anyone. I refused to sign the new contract and they refused to give us our money back! We lost $3,200 because they were not smart enough to cover their butts in their contract. I understand COVID hot everyone hard, but have some compassion for the people you are working with. Not only are they losing money with you, but they are losing money with other vendors as well.
We ended up having our wedding somewhere else and it cost MUCH less than what we were going to pay here anyway.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!
