About

35 years experience in women's attire and specializing in bridal. I have many happy customers over the years and am still getting referrals. My prices are good, my service is fairly quick and my customer service is the best. I do alterations from my business section of my home and love everything I do. I put a lot of love into every piece I work on or make. I do not work on winter wear or jeans or tailoring. Call or email me with any questions.
Thanks for your interest and make it a great day!

Nickie’s Alterations is so much more than just alterations. My specialty is customization of gowns and dresses. Nowadays most seamstresses want to crank out as many hems as possible. I pride myself on being one of the few that does a lot more than that. If you have a dress or gown of any kind that you would like transformed into something that is one of a kind or just that little bit extra special, I am the one to come see. When you are looking for that special dress or gown that you just can’t get out of your head for a special moment, give me a call. I not only customize existing dresses and gowns, but I also make them from scratch. I have even taken Grandma’s gown and made it into a christening gown as well as first communion dresses. The next time you have an idea or see a picture of a gown or dress that you just MUST have, contact Nickie’s Alterations.

Nickie is wonderful!

Nickie is wonderful to work with! My first appointment was in February to drop off my dress. At your first appointment, she will talk through everything you want to have worked on on your dress. She will also offer hair and jewelry advice.

My second appointment was supposed to be in September, but she got sick with covid. Once she was better, we made an appointment for October. She hadn't made any alts to my dress yet. As she explained to me, brides can lose or gain weight between appointments, so she waits to make the alts until closer to the wedding so your body is more consistent. In my case, I did both between my appointments. When I tried on my dress again, I had lost ten pounds and my dress was hanging off of me. She told me to eat a burrito.

My third appointment was yesterday. Nickie had made all of the alts to my dress. I didn't think it was possible, but I fell in love with it all over again. I didn't want to take it off! But I did so she could add one of her final touches. Nickie likes to take a piece of a bride's mother's wedding dress and make a heart with it to sew into the bride's skirt. She did this in front of my mom and me while we chatted. Nickie had also steamed my dress, so we were able to take it home that day.

Nickie will chat with you about your dress and your wedding concerns. But she will also chat with you about life because she is so warm and welcoming. She takes the time to get to know you and it shows that her heart is in everything she does. Nickie will bend over backward to make you look and feel beautiful on your wedding day. Go to her. I can't recommend her enough.

Wedding dress alterations should not cause additional anxiety

Do NOT take your wedding dress here. You do not want the added stress/anxiety. I took my dress to Nickie at the end of January 2020, she gave me such high hopes on my dress and made it seem like my wedding dress dreams were going to become reality. In mid March I notified her that we were postponing to October 2020 due to the pandemic. When I reached back out and saw her in August for my next fitting, what she said she was going to do to my dress in January, was not completed. She said she "moved my dress to a different rack and didn't touch it since we postponed". While there, obviously she had forgotten what we previously went over which was very nerve racking for me. She said she was going to start working on my dress at the end of August. I waited for an update on progress, text that never came. In early September, she reached out that she had been exposed to COVID and still hadn't started my dress but said she was feeling good and going to get started on Monday (which was two days from that text). I followed up that Wednesday to get progress updates and how she was felling. She STILL hadn't started, was feeling fine and said she was going to start my dress over the weekend. This is 5 weeks before our wedding, by the way. So, I followed up again the Monday after she said she was going to start, for a progress update and how she was feeling. Well, I had to pick up my dress from her as we were under 5 weeks and she still had not started. Oh and I also had 2 of my bridesmaids dresses there who's dresses were not even touched (She had them since mid March). To say I was upset, frustrated, and stressed is an understatement. The good thing I will say, she reimbursed us our money right away, in full. Thankfully I was already working on a back up plan and brought my dress somewhere else, the next day. When they saw the way she had pinned my dress the were appalled. I cried at this appointment because I was finally at ease that my dress was actually in good hands. DO NOT BRING YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE. Avoid the extra anxiety and stress and go somewhere else.
