My husband and I looked at both Theodore Wirth Park and Columbia Golf Course and both were absolutely charming but we went with Columbia for wedding size purposes. The park staff was friendly and very helpful before and on our wedding day and worked closely with the catering staff and coordinator. Some random fees and we needed a park police officer for the bar but overall the pricing was very reasonable. Columbia Manor was a perfect fit for our style!

A week before the wedding we had to change our ceremony site, we were planning on already having our reception at Columbia, and had been working with Marc, and when we threw it out there about making the switch he replied "No problem I can have it all ready for you and switch it over in 12 minutes". WOW, and he did. Marc was INCREDIBLY helpful, on top of anything we came up with and a pleasure to work with. Everything went smoothly and I am VERY impressed by his services.

This venue was perfect. They set up everything for us and helped us negotiate with the caterer. The venue was stunning.

Can I give 6 stars for value? We loved Theodore Wirth for a few reasons: One - price. This was absolutely the most affordable place we could find that actually held more than 30 people. Two - catering that fit with our needs (Chowgirls!!). 3.Beautiful, Rustic, Outdoors atmosphere.

The Fireplace Room was perfect for our mingling, rambling appertif 125-person wedding this August. There is a main room, the "pub" room, and and entry room that make for excellent settings to a variety to the night. Not to mention, the whole thing has a huge terrace where guests could spend time mingling outside as well. AND, no need to ALSO rent chairs and tables, they're provided, thank goodness, because we are of the type that was frequently frustrated by the "required" rental vendors.

Mike Baker helped us out in setting everything up, and I had never experienced such flexibility from another venue we encountered. We changed our table arrangement, had a million questions, and Mike took it all in stride.

Word to the wise though - the advice of "use Wedding Hill" is faulty. We chose to use this "nearby" space, and although it turned out fine, made our lives a heckofa lot more complicated trying to arrange guests to get to Wedding Hill. I recommend using Theodore Wirth if you've already got a ceremony location in mind, or if you don't mind having them in the same place. Wedding Hill is a big uh-uh, but mostly unrelated to Theodore Wirth's quality of service.

Our ceremony was at the Lyndale Park Peace Garden and our reception at the Columbia Manor, both Mpls Park and Recreation Board locations. Both sites were beautiful and perfect for our style of wedding and guest count. Ellen at the Park Board was great to work with! For any future MPRB brides, be sure to factor in all the fees, as they do pop up, especially if you want to have alcohol. Even with the fees, though, I considered the overall price to be pretty affordable, compared to what's out there. Just read the fine print, talk to Ellen, and you shouldn't have any surprises.

Very nice reception venue. Has an "up north" and rustic feel to it. The manager was not always the most helpful, but everything turned out great!

Ellen was very easy to work with when we were deciding whether we wanted to choose Loring Park as our venue for the ceremony and reception. You have the option of having the ceremony out on Loring lake and then bringing everyone inside to eat at the reception! The only things I don't like are that you have to use their caterers and there is limited parking around the park. Perks are that it only costs $650 to have the ceremony and reception there and you get the space from 3pm-midnight! The venue is beautiful and I can't wait to have our wedding there.

Lovely venue for a reception, we used each of the different areas including the porch, patio and ballroom. Staff at Columbia Manor were wonderful to work with and extremely helpful when it came time to planning out our room set-up. They were great with keeping the venue clean and running smooth the day of our event. Perfect back-drop for pictures. We also chose to get ready at this venue, though it didn't seem like much (they don't have large mirrors for the ladies, which was a little disheartening) our photographer was able to make the photos look magical. Only downside comes to the limit on who can cater and bartend. Expect a large addition to your budget with these items, and this includes an extra service fee that the venue charges each the bar and catering companies on top of the city and state taxes.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
