Welcome to Mickey's Massive Burritos in La Salle, Illinois, a stunning restaurant wedding venue where tradition meets flavor in every bite. Our story is one of family, heritage, and a passion for serving authentic, unforgettable Mexican-inspired cuisine. Mickey, along with Beverly, Michael, and Ashley, is proud to serve you.
Our Legacy Begins
Our journey dates back to 1952, when Jesus and Guadalupe Venegas, Mickey's grandparents, started their humble venture by running a small business from their home. They crafted deep-fried tacos made with regular flour—long before they became a local favorite—and laid the foundation for what would become a community staple.
A Family Business Grows
In 1956, the Venegas family opened Lakeview Tap, a lively spot in DePue that quickly became more than just a restaurant—it became a haven for locals seeking hearty Mexican specialties like tacos, enchiladas, and fried chicken. During this bustling era, DePue thrived with workers from Del Monte and the Zinc plant, and Lakeview Tap was the heart of the community. Tragically, in 1963, a train derailment caused significant damage to the establishment. But the spirit of family and tradition endured.
Carrying the Torch
Mickey's aunts and uncles carried the family's culinary legacy forward, even serving their popular tacos at the lively DePue Boat Races and area festivals. In 1970, Mickey's parents opened the Little Pinto Bean, a beloved local fixture until their passing.
For the past 24 years, Mickey has passionately continued the family tradition with Mickey's Massive Burritos. From our cozy brick-and-mortar in La Salle to our eye-catching MASSIVE red food trailers, which have become a familiar sight at fairs and events across Illinois, Mickey proudly honors those original recipes.
Innovating While Honoring Tradition
Mickey's grandmother was a trailblazer in the community, famously creating the area's first deep-fried taco. Mickey's mom put her own unique spin on Guadalupe's original recipes—proudly naming the deep-fried taco Annie's Originals. At Mickey's, we remain dedicated to using fresh, high-quality ingredients and preserving the timeless flavors and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
