My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Melissa Blemur Photography this past spring when we decided to elope with just two weeks to plan. We got in touch with Melissa after seeing her work online, and she was prompt in responding to our inquiry and very accommodating with our short time frame. We arranged a time to meet up at the venue prior to our wedding date, and while we walked around the site Melissa asked questions about our vision for our wedding and shared her thoughts on the best locations, lighting, and ambiance for photos. She was even willing to hike up a mountainside with us to check out another potential ceremony spot! Melissa exuded a warmth and excitement when discussing our ceremony that was contagious, and it was wonderful to have a photographer who brought in such a positive energy for our special day. Even though our small ceremony and photography session all told was less than two hours, we ended up with a large number of great photos that captured our happiness and spirit as a couple, and we now have these memories to share with our family and friends who were not in attendance. Melissa was great she put a lot of thought and effort into customizing our engagement photo session to be exactly what we wanted.

Working with Melissa was an absolute pleasure. My wife (so weird to say that) and I wanted to work with someone who would be fairly laid back and would be open to our sense of DIY. Melissa was the perfect photographer for the job. Aside from the portrait session following the ceremony, we had no idea she was even there (not to say we didn't love having her around). She captured tiny details and glimpses of the surroundings that we otherwise completely missed.

Her ability to direct us during the portrait shots made the whole experience seem effortless. She captured some fantastic scenes and made us look like models.

Because of the somewhat remote location of our wedding we asked Melissa to stay and enjoy the party. We had only contracted her for the ceremony and portraits but she captured a few nice shots from later in the evening as well. When asked about this, she simply said she loves to shoot photos--and it showed!

I have already recommended Melissa to a friend who will be getting married next year. Melissa is a joy to work with, she's a fantastic photographer, and a wonderful new friend.

It was a joy to work with Melissa from start to finish. She met with us several times before the wedding day and really listened to us describe our vision for our wedding photos. She offered us many different options and never pushed us to do anything we didn't want. She took beautiful photos at 4 wedding events (a picnic, a rehearsal dinner and the wedding ceremony and reception)! She worked with family members ranging in age from 3 months old to 91 years old and made everyone feel comfortable. She nailed the most important photo for us-- a giant photo of everyone who attended the wedding--over 100 people! The final product was exquisite and she gave us many options for getting prints and digital copies. Melissa was a dream to work with. She's a real person, a dedicated artist, and she sees her work with you as a relationship and not just as a job. Melissa is not over-the-top bubbly or a type-A person who will commandeer your special event to match her version of what she wants for you. Melissa met with us multiple times before our wedding to get our vision for our day and to understand what we wanted most to commemorate from it. She was affirming while also willing to introduce us gently to our various artistic and pricing options.
