We had a small our wedding at our house, and it seemed that the best option for our group of 28 was to leave the house directly after the ceremony and go to a nearby restaurant. We chose McCormick and Schmick's Fish House and Bar because 1) it's a very quick drive from our house, 2) it's upscale, 3) the food is amazing, and 4) they have a private banquet room for parties. I booked the date very early on the previous year, and when by three weeks before the big day, Beverly, the Manager/Events Coordinator, called me to get a feel for what she needed to plan. We decided to meet with her at the restaurant later in the week. We were very happy with the banquet room (very gorgeous wood-paneling, great white linens, and huge windows overlooking a patio that our party was welcome to enjoy), and we were happy with her willingness to tweak a few items on the menu for us. She wanted to know our wedding colors and spoke with us about her ideas for decorating the room, and we really liked that attention to detail on her part. On the big night, the entire restaurant was packed and the two servers working with us in the banquet room were constantly running. The food was absolutely amazingly good! Everyone raved about their entree choices and quite a few people got their food wrapped up because there was so much of it. The manager came out and introduced herself and ensured we were well taken care of. The staff did a great job looking after all of us and we highly recommend McCormick and Schmick's to anyone who is seeking a great place to have a small, quiet, and understated wedding reception.

The location of the restaurant is perfect for a small wedding or any event. Not a very professional service though. We've been told about $1800 food and beverage minimum only to rent out the second floor room but when everything was rolling out already we found out about lots of other fees that nobody advised us about. For an example they say you have $1800 minimum and will be charged depending on your menu choice per guest that ate at the event, but in contract, without pointing out it to us, they put a random number by our menu choice and then said that we agreed for 41 (the number they randomly selected??) minimum guests, however we never even anticipated more than 36 adults. We had a total of 27 adults at our wedding dinner plus children but were charged for 46 adults because they said more guest ate out of the menu????!!!!! I still cannot figure out how is that possible :). So the point is - read the contract and ask questions about every single number and word they put in there!!! I tried to resolved our issue with them but they are not very willing to do anything at all...
Also, quality of service were not so great: they said we'll have linens but nothing of that sort was provided, we waited forever for out food to be served, one guest had HAIR in her mushed potato, we chose one kind of cake and at the event they said they don't have that choice so we were stuck with chocolate cake (which we didn't want).
Overall, the locating is very nice but quality is not so great, I would recommend looking for better options in Portland.
