Needs to work out their kinks still

Unfortunately, I can’t give Lost Barn Rentals a good review. I really wanted to have a positive experience with them, especially because I love supporting a family-owned business, but there are some significant kinks that still need to be worked out, and unfortunately, we ended up paying the price for them.

When initially ordering our rentals, I specifically searched for a dance floor that could be used on grass and placed the order along with the rest of our wedding rentals. Everything appeared to be good to go. When our rentals were delivered two days before our wedding, however, the delivery team told us they couldn't give us the dance floor because we needed subflooring underneath it.

After looking back at the website, I discovered that the subflooring is something you have to manually add separately. If you don’t already know that you need it, it is extremely easy to miss. Every rental company and dance floor system is different, so as the customer, I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect someone to automatically know which additional components are required—especially when the dance floor is being rented specifically for use on grass.

I spoke with Sarah, who was very kind and apologized for the lack of communication. She acknowledged that the website needed to be clearer and said she would make changes. I appreciated her acknowledging the issue.

Despite this being a communication issue on their end, there was essentially no attempt to help us problem-solve. We were two days away from our wedding and were simply told there was nothing that could be done.

Ironically, our DJ went significantly further to help us than the rental company did. He started calling his contacts throughout the industry trying to locate another dance floor or find a solution for us at the last minute. Ultimately, my now-husband ended up building the required subflooring himself the day before our wedding.

I contacted Sarah again and asked if we could use the dance floor using the subflooring we had made. She agreed, but there was no offer to bring the dance floor back out to us. Instead, I had to drive all the way to their location myself the day before my wedding to pick it up.

Mistakes and miscommunications happen, and I completely understand that, especially with a growing family-owned business. What matters to me is how a company responds when something goes wrong. I would have felt very differently about this experience if there had been a genuine effort to help us find a solution or make the situation right.

I hope Lost Barn Rentals uses our experience to improve their website and their process going forward. there should be a clear warning that subflooring is required, or someone should follow up before the event to ensure all necessary components have been ordered.
I’m sure these changes will make the experience much better for future couples. Unfortunately, we were the ones who discovered the problem two days before our wedding and were largely left to solve it ourselves, which added a tremendous amount of unnecessary stress at the worst possible time.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
