Legend City Studios was once an auto body shop, Legend City is now the joint work space of fine art painter Randy Slack and photographers Jon Balinkie, Jason Grubb and Brandon Sullivan .
Long time Arizonians will remember another Legend City, an amusement park that entertained many at the site of the current SRP property on Washington and 52nd Street. The owners decided a tribute was in order and in 2003 they decided to name their new studio after the late park. Built in 1928, this 7,000 sq. foot building with its red brick walls, 12 foot ceilings and polished concrete floors is the perfect spot for your urban wedding reception, company party, meeting, etc.
The space is also available for photo shoot rentals. Legend City is home to the annual “Chaos Theory” art show which takes place every October First Friday where hundreds of art enthusiasts come to see the work of 50+ local artists. In addition to many private functions the space also is the site of an annual Downtown Chamber Series event which hosts over 450 patrons over three nights of performances.

This is a wonderful alternative to the typical wedding venues! Because it is typically an art gallery and photography studio, they have gorgeous brick walls and polished concrete floors with incredible lighting that you can adjust. There is also a glass garage door, which lets in a lot natural light depending on the time of day. They have a wired speaker system throughout; while we didn't use the in-house system, I have been to other events here and it sounds good!Sent on 04/04/2018
The venue rental fee is incredibly affordable, but be warned that this venue is for the bride who has the time and patience to plan everything out (or has a coordinator), as it is just a blank space. My partner and I were looking for exactly that, so we were OK with having many different vendors, renting *everything*, and coordinating everything ourselves. You will need to set up and tear down all on the day of your wedding, so be sure to keep that in mind as well.
I also have to give a shoutout to the owners, especially Randy, who was so wonderful in helping us coordinate everything, letting us meet with vendors multiple times at the venue before the wedding, and giving us a lot of tips and tricks. Through all of my interactions with him, Randy even became a friend! I'm not sure everyone can say that :)
If you're looking for a unique, industrial-looking venue that you can make all your own, I highly recommend going with Randy and the team at Legend City Studios!
