The Kern County Museum has the most unique setting and helped make my wedding unforgettable! The staff is so helpful and professional. The services that were offered were perfect for my planning. If I could do it all over again I would go back to the museum.

I had my wedding at the Kern County Museum, and everyone was so wonderful and helpful. The staff really went above and beyond to work with me to make everything happen just how I wanted it, and the setting could not have been more perfect for a spring garden wedding.

We love the grounds. Best place to take pictures, and have a great party. The only thing that would have helped if they would answer their phones, and call back when messages were left in a timely matter. They were very nice to work with, and helped me with all my questions and concerns. Loved having my wedding here.

I loved the museum to get married in. I really loved the chapel. The initial appointment was wonderful and we booked the hotel to dress up in as well. It sucked having to try and get dressed while these people were setting up for their party in the front of the hotel so my mom kicked them out. I didn't need strangers staring at me while i changed into my wedding dress. Due to an event, all the museum parking was taken up so my guests had to park in random spots farther than they should have, but in in all i would get married at the chapel again as it is so beautiful to photograph.

First of all there was so many up and downs in dealing with the museum. We selected the Neon courtyard for our wedding area in the museum because there is no where else like it in Bakersfield. All the old neon lights are immaculate when they are lit up at night. It breaks the tradition of a grass area and a gazebo. We loved the area but this year Fright Night moved to the museum right behind the Neon Courtyard. We found this out a month before our wedding date. There was no chance of finding another venue at this point. The museum offered to move us to another location within the museum but was just a grass area with gazebo (not our cup of tea). Upon talking with Roger (Director of the museum) he said he would work with us and do whatever we wanted because we had a contract with the museum first. We asked him to have fright night closed for that night so we wouldn't be impacted. He agreed but two weeks before the wedding he asked us to reconsider and talk with the fright night people. We understood at this point he was not going to close Fright night for monetary reasons. We spoke with the Fright night representative and he made some accommodations for us to lessen the impact of noise and intrusions caused by fright night. In the end, the fright night had very minimal impact on our wedding and the biggest issue was the music from another wedding at the museum during the speeches. Most of my review is based on the stress caused from the uncertainty of what to expect due to fright night and the back out of closing it for the night. If your looking for a different look for a wedding, I highly recommend the neon courtyard. It is beautiful at night when the lights are lit up. Paul at the museum who was our contact for the rental was very professional and helpful, can't thank him enough. He was understanding of our predicament and did his best to help us out. In the end our wedding was beautiful and I wouldn't change it for the world.

I have lived in Bakersfield my whole life and I have always Loved the Kern County Museum. Me and My Fiancé looked at several different venues before we decided on the KCM. At first we were thrilled and although it was very pricey we thought it would be worth it. Unfortunately if I had it to do again I would have definitely picked a different venue. For one there just isn't enough time for the price (this is not something we realized until after booking and putting down our deposit). I don't like that you have to book a 3 hour time slot pay extra for and additional 2 hours of which an hour is clean up so you actually only get 4 hours for your entire event (that is not a lot of time for a wedding ceremony and reception and if you go over that they charge you a minimum of another 3 hours) We had to rush so much through our pictures just so we could finish on time and be out before the 4 hours was up. My event felt so rushed when it should have been a time to remember. Now I have very few pictures and memories of a very rushed wedding.

The Staff - Oh man!! Where do I start with them. I find them very rude and they are not at all flexible to work with you. They are on set hours PERIOD. They charge for EVERYTHING and on more then one occasion double booked by appointment time which left me waiting more then an hour to meet with them and then they weren't even sympathetic about it and acted like it was my fault. They do not communicate very well and pretty much leave you to do it all yourself. Like I said before they are on set hours so make sure you don't have a full time job or you will never get to see them except Saturdays if they don't overbook their schedule. Oh and it takes 4-6 weeks to get the deposit back so don't count on that right after your wedding. All in All I will never book another event here and would not recommend them to anyone.

This idyllic venue is one of my favorites, it has a lot of versatility and the staff is really kind and helpful. One of Bakersfield's largest public venues, I appreciate the time they take to make sure that the grounds are well taken care of. I will continue to send my clients to Kern County Museum!!
