Here is the final email we sent to KC Wine Co when we were driven to the point where we felt like we had no choice but to cancel our contract. All we asked for was the option to move our date to 2021 if Kansas shut down again, and they refused to put in in writing, stating that they would deal with it if and when it happened, and that they could safely have 300 people in their space. They said we'd have to forfeit all money up to that point, even though their shoddy contract led us and a lawyer to believe otherwise. If you're curious if we have received any response to this email, the answer is no. These people are cold and heartless, and I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for any special events.Sent on 08/12/2020
Ultimately, all we have asked for weeks now is any level of security or good faith you could give us as a vendor. The whole world is dealing with an uncertain and scary future with no known end in sight. Discussions of Kansas potentially going back to a phase 2 lockdown and increased numbers in Johnson County are the exact reasons we kept pressing the matter. Businesses and individuals pretending this will just go away has proven to be foolish at best, deadly at worst.
Like so many others in the world, my family has been personally impacted by this pandemic. You claim to be sympathetic but the reality is, not once during this process have your actions shown that. We asked for something so simple as reassurance that you would work with us, should the worst case scenario happen. Instead of giving us that, you quote your contract. You have treated us like a dollar sign and not people. You have driven my fiance to tears. You have taken what is ultimately meant to be a beautiful day and added an extra layer of stress that no couple should be forced to go through. You're in the hospitality business. People entrust milestone days in their lives to you. To be so cold and uncaring of people's situations, feelings, and concerns is beyond disappointing.
