"Justina's writing combines the innocence of youth with old soul wisdom, producing magical songs that take the listener on a journey they're happy to be on. She delivers her songs with passion, singing from her heart with piano chops that are equally impressive." - Steve Seskin, hit songwriter
JUSTINA SHANDLER is a singer-songwriter and composer for media, originally from Roanoke, VA. Her songs have been described as the music baby of Regina Spektor and Billy Joel. Justina uses unconventional chord progressions and deeply honest, blunt, lyrics to tell meaningful musical stories.
Justina's songs have been lauded in international competitions and by leading industry professionals. In 2012, she won first place in both Indie International Songwriting Contest's rock category for "Someone Else's Bed" and in the renowned UK Songwriting Contest's love song category for "If You Ever Miss Me." In 2013, she was a finalist in the Mountain Stage New Song Contest; the following year, she was a co-winner of Carnegie Hall's Songwriting Contest. Most recently, Justina was selected as one of ten songwriter finalists to perform on the main stage at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, CO.
Justina has worked with songwriters Craig Carothers, Jon Lind, Lari White and Craig Carnelia, and with film composers Jay Vincent and Chuck Henry. She has performed her original songs at Lincoln Center and Rockwood Music Hall in New York (with members of Sara Bareilles' band), at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN, and at various comedy clubs in Los Angeles. She regularly performs at local south Florida venues and has a permanent monthly gig in Coconut Grove.
Justina's film work has earned her credits in the Internet Movie Database (link hidden)). She and fellow composer Steven Gizzi scored the short film, "Gwyndor," written by Dixie Perkinson and Nathalie Antonia, and directed by David Crabtree. The film has received high recognition and was screened at Hollyshorts Film Festival at the Grauman Chinese Theater. Justina continues to write songs for filmmakers in Los Angeles, and is now writing music for iPhone apps.
Justina is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Media Writing and Production, and is a teaching assistant at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. She spent the summer teaching songwriting and music theory to middle and high school students. She recently completed her undergraduate studies at University of Miami as a member of the Bruce Hornsby Creative American Music program.
Justina's new 9-track EP, Three Leaf Clover, was released in June 2015 and can be purchased on iTunes and streamed on Spotify.

We hired Justina Shandler for my 50th birthday bash / house concert - about 35-40 friends in attendance.Sent on 05/25/2016
She played for two hours, with a local pickup guitarist. Took a short break (a performer has to hydrate!).
Many of my friends emailed me the next day to write how great the show was and asked for CD links and such, so hopefully she made a few bucks on the side from downloads.
Would HIGHLY recommend (and hope to get her here again).

I was planning a big outdoor birthday brunch for my friend and Justina was an amazing addition to the event. She has a great attitude and talked through with me everything that I wanted before the day. It was the one part of the party I didn't have to worry about! She showed up on time and added the perfect sound to the party. When she started playing I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys, everyone was cracking up. It was the perfect throwback. All of the ladies want to hire her for their next event!Sent on 04/20/2016

Justina gave a wonderful performance at our wedding reception. She is a gifted musician and entertainer who kept our crowd engaged with her wonderful original songs, large catalog of covers, and humorous anecdotes and banter. It was a truly class act for all the hours booked, with only a short break! The music was soulful and quirky with a fresh twist on classics. Justina was the perfect solution for my partner and I - a knockout performer who was conscious of our budget!Sent on 05/25/2016
