Above and Beyond

Aside from proposing and marrying my wife (obviously), hiring Melody was the best thing we did for our wedding. She was easy to deal with, recommended other vendors who were also lovely, and she averted disaster more than once.

A whole lot of things went wrong both prior to our wedding and that day.

Our original photographer had double booked without realizing it. She's the one who recommended Melody, and said she was the best. We didn't have a lot of options so we booked her very last minute, just a week prior to our wedding. We didn't get much time to even talk with her about what we wanted.

She sent over a pre-made family photo list for us to edit, add to, etc... to relieve our stress, and believe me, we didn't have time to sit and make our own at that point. She sent us a short list of questions to determine what we wanted her to focus the most on.

The day of the wedding, the coordinator slipped and broke ankle while decorating the venue, leaving us with no coordinator and the decor not quite finished.

Melody had arrived about an hour before she was supposed to because she'd never photographed at our venue before and wanted to check it out and wanted to at to meet us both before getting started.

She walked in right after the accident and immediately went to work. She got all of our wedding info from our coordinator, helped with getting her in to someones car to get her to the hospital, then spoke with my (now) wife, who was panicking, and I and managed to calm her down and reassure us that everything would be fine.

I don't think we believed her at the time, but we should have.

She immediately took charge and finished the decor herself. She managed, somehow, to balance photographing our wedding with also doing most of the coordination by delegating what she couldn't do to family and friends who stepped up to assist.

She filled in the other vendors on the situation, she quickly educated my wife's cousin on how to send people down the aisle, she coordinated where people were supposed to be, she threw together a bouquet for our toddler aged flower girl who went in to tantrum mode after discovering she didn't have one, she zipped dresses, sewed on a button, laced a corset, pinned on all of the boutineers, made sure the programs were out, and countless other feats.

We were extremely thankful but worried our photos may suffer due to the added responsibilities she took on that day, but they did not. The photos are more exquisite than we thought they could be. She captured every moment we wanted and then some, and she did it beautifully.

A week prior to our wedding we had never spoken to Melody, when she showed up to the venue that day she was a complete stranger, yet she did more for us that day than we ever could've dreamed, more than most would do for their closest friends.

There's no level of thanks or appreciation we could give that would be adequate. We will be forever appreciative to all that she did.

I would, and will, recommend her to everyone.

Don't let this photographer pass you by

Before I start my review of the business, I want to say the Melody is such an awesome person. She was just great talking to in general.
My husband and I found her business when we were recently engaged. She took our engagement and wedding photos. I have never been so happy with a decision. Oh my goodness! I wanted a Dark Academia theme for our wedding. Let me tell you, I do not think it is that easy to find ways to promote that in modern, downtown Chattanooga, but she found a way. Our engagement photos look like if we lived in a medieval castle at times. When we arrived at the wedding venue, she and her assistant were already there. She's very prompt and responsive. When she asked me what kinds of shots I wanted, I replied "can you do the Instagram shots? I can't remember how to describe them, because I'm so nervous." Let. Me. Tell. You. Melody was on it. She got all the ones I wanted. The focused perspective of the shots were just breathtaking. When the black and white proofs came back and the my reddish and fair all complexion came across all blotchy and gross, Melody was on top of it and fixed it so I did not look like a molting zombie. Can't wait for our anniversary shots in the future. ;)
