Martin and I planned an intimate wedding at our friends' garden with a close group of friends and our two year old son. We wanted to do most of the work ourselves. One of the tasks on my plate was to arrange the flowers for the day. I imagined a romantic setting, with a garden like bouquet, simple and spontaneous with 3 red roses in the middle representing my family, not too big as the dress was quite rich with details and I am not a tall person. I was also looking for a couple of arrangements for decor. I visited many websites trying to discover a message beyond just "wedding" business, using cookie cutter wording to sell packages and fancy consultations. Then I came across GIF's website which is all about flowers and stories. I was intrigued and was inspired to pay GIF a visit. The magic started there, coming through the door at GIF's new location at Granville Street. First I met very pleasant and knowledgable young gentleman who I explained what I am looking for. On my surprise he just listened to me and went on to showing me various options and we started bouncing ideas. I was already in awe and shocked that I said word "wedding" and he was not taking me to see wedding packages. He was truly listening and trying to help me. I was amazed. Then it only got better as he introduced me to Suzane, the owner. I stood there speechless as Suzane started making a demo of my wedding bouquet in front of me as I was trying to explain the mood and symbolism I want to capture with flowers on my day. Suzane was just magical. Her knowledge, creativity and personal touches just shine. She was dancing with ideas and mingling between the colours, fresh cut flowers and reflecting the exact idea I have dreamt of for my day. What a treat to discover this beautiful shop and a huge heart behind it. GIF is run by professionals who know their product and lead by love and true care for their customers. Suzane from Granville Island Florist was just amazing. From the very first time I met her, she was incredibly thorough. She asked me so many detailed questions such as the theme, venue, my colors, my dress, shoes, hairstyle... This proved to me that she looks at the big picture and not just the flowers. My trust in her grew tremendously. She also gave me a referral for someone who didn't work out and because of that she went above and beyond her role as a florist to ensure I have a replacement for this vendor. She was super kind and a genuinely nice person to work with. My Mom has never been a fan of flowers but she absolutely loved these flowers so much so that she has still kept the bare wish tree having removed all the perished blossoms. Suzane you were truly one of the best vendors I had the pleasure of dealing with. Thank you.
