About
Louis Ford and His New Orleans Flairs are one of the most popular bands in New Orleans, celebrating weddings, engagements, and elopements in all sorts of unique venues that reflect your style, taste and personality. We love to entertain friends and families, with everything from a soloist for the ceremony to a full-on Brass Band Second Line Parade, and party music for your reception. It is such a treat to be part of that Second Line from the wedding to the reception, with all the wedding party, family, friends, and lots of happy strangers joining the dance!
Here is who we are: An accomplished clarinetist and saxophonist, Louis Ford is a fifth generation New Orleans musician, with love and dedication to the preservation of New Orleans Traditional Jazz. After studying music at NOCCA under Ellis Marsalis, and performing as a member of St. Augustine’s Marching 100, he earned a degree in Music Education from Loyola University.
Louis’ career has enabled him to travel extensively, sharing his gifts throughout the world, with his band, Louis Ford and His New Orleans Flairs. Louis’ most inspiring and rewarding travels are those trips educating younger generations, teaching New Orleans culture, Traditional Jazz, and the history of the music pioneers who created it. The other members of the band are music teachers, as well, passing the culture on to the next generations.
Louis’ audiences continue to grow. He performs every year for Jazz Fest and French Quarter Fest, as well as dozens of conventions, retreats, cocktail parties and private occasions. He was privileged to perform as a regular on the television show NCIS New Orleans, a commercial for Popeye’s©, and on the sound track for the movie, “Jungle Book 2”. He is honored to be a part of history as a member of the Preservation Hall Legacy Band, which opened the Tricentennial Celebration for the City of New Orleans. He performed with that band via satellite for Commander Richard (Ricky) Arnold and crew on board the NASA Space Station. Louis features in a documentary focusing on his work with the senior community. You can see Louis live at Preservation Hall, and check out his website at www.FordMusicProductions.com.
