The First United Methodist Church of Waco, Texas is a beautiful and spacious facility. The alter in the sanctuary is made of a gorgeous glassy, black marble. This marble is what was left over after the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC was built. It is the only other place in the world that this type of marble exists. The rest of the interior is equally beautiful: the stained glass windows of the sanctuary are some the most colorful and intricate in the state; the red carpet gives the large room a sense of welcome and intimacy; the enormous cross behind the alter is humbling, yet surprisingly simple in its presence. The ministers and staff are very friendly, helpful and accommadating. Mary Chambers acts as liasion and wedding coordinator for the church. She is exceptional at her job, very reliable and professional.
The church also provided many decorations, including the unity candle and stand, candelabrum, candles, lighters and all the elements for communion.
My only "causion" is that they are very stict about the kind the music that can be played during the ceremony. Only hymns or classical songs are allowed, and still must be approved by the head music director.

Note: For NON-members, the use of the sanctuary for the ceremony is about $2000.
