Everhope Plantation is a picturesque, historic, wedding venue in Eutaw, Alabama. Everhope Plantation is an Antebellum home dating back to 1852 and features on the National Register of Historic Places. This 167-year-old property still holds many of its original features such as windows, woodwork, pine flooring, and doorbell, making it a truly original venue to host your special day. Everhope Plantation’s most recent proprietor believes in sustainability and preservation and this is evident in the respectful and loving restoration work that has been poured into this property over the past several years.
Facilities and Capacity
Everhope Plantation houses a large and elegant interior, a modern 2,000-square-foot addition, and several recently restored outbuildings, ideal for hosting a variety of wedding events. The main house features eight individually decorated bedrooms, each one bursting with its own character, accompanied by seven restrooms. In the spirit of tradition, this venue can also provide bedrooms in separate buildings on the property so the couple-of-honor can avoid seeing each other in the hours before their nuptials.
Everhope Plantation can accommodate both indoor and outdoor wedding celebrations comfortably with its varied range of spaces. The 1600-square-foot carriage house, which underwent a three-year restoration using reclaimed 1830’s barn wood, is a popular choice for wedding celebrations. The carriage house features a custom-made glass chandelier housing 1940’s can lights, along with new ceiling fans to keep the interior cool at the height of Summer. Outside the carriage house, two large connecting patios can be used to place a tent or marquee for larger wedding parties.
Everhope Plantation is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, scenic views, and amazing architecture, providing an ideal natural backdrop for your wedding photoshoot. This venue is dedicated to ensuring your special day is just that by only ever hosting one wedding event per weekend, meaning you never feel under pressure and are free to enjoy your time on the property.
Services Offered
Everhope Plantation is happy for couples to source their own services for their wedding celebration to ensure the day is authentically ‘them’. This venue is passionate about generating business in the Eutaw area and is only too happy to recommend a list of preferred vendors to couples choosing to host their wedding at Everhope Plantation. They can recommend a range of services including caterers, florists, DJs, photographers, beverage services, and local bakers.
History
Everhope Plantation has a rich history behind its Greek Revival facade. The land on which this magnificent property sits was originally purchased by the Carpenter family in 1852 and remained in the family from completion of the build right up until 1977. The property changed hands a number of times before being purchased by its current owner, E. Barden Smedberg Jr. in 2012. Since the purchase, the new proprietor has poured profits from the property back into its restoration and continues to update this historic home in keeping with its original beauty.
