Event Planner Shi

We started working with Shi about 15 months ahead of our wedding. She was very professional and answered all of our questions and concerns honestly and thoroughly. From these early conversations, we know that she would try her best to make our date special. Shi helped us with every part of the process: finding and picking venues and meeting some of the awesomest vendors. She helped us figure out what was really important and kept us on schedule. But, she also supported us when I (the bride) had an emotional breakdown after my grandmother passed away 12 days before the wedding.

In the first call we had with her, we felt like she got genuinely excited about our vision and spirit of what we wanted. Shi really heard what we wanted and helped us realize the vision.We wanted a multicultural wedding (with Chinese, Colombian, and Western influences). Shi embraced it completely and made things happen! Shi was organized, timely, and communicated clearly and consistently if there were any obstacles or just keeping us on track. She always looked out for our best interests, and helped us course correct especially when we didn't know ourselves.

We enjoyed every minute working with her, whether it was deciding if the vendor was the right fit, reviewing contracts, and the decorations and layout to, talking about the best restaurants in Portland and our dogs.

Shi is the best wedding planner we could have asked for and more. If there was ever another event I needed, or if anyone needed help planning their party, I would go to Shi first. A wedding is such a major life event and we are so glad we had Shi to support us all the way.

I have been a wedding professional for over 15 years and in that time I have worked with quite a few wedding planners, and Shi is one of the best. I have had the pleasure of working with Shi on 3 recent weddings, and I cannot recommend her enough. From our first meeting, it was very clear that Shi is incredibly responsive and attentive to the needs of her clients. She was able to bring each wedding’s unique vision to life with her creative ideas and attention to detail. Shi was also extremely flexible, making adjustments as needed to ensure everything went smoothly day-of. I know she is relatively new to the industry, but don’t let that dissuade you - she is the real deal and I expect great things from her in the coming years. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a wedding planner.

We booked her intermediate planning package--which was focused on guiding us through many of the planning stages, communicating with vendors on our behalf, providing recommendations and advice, helping to design our floor plan, and full day-of coordination.

The pros of this package were that we had full access to her guidance, expertise, and relationships with vendors (which, if you haven't planned a wedding, is much more important than you think it is!), and for a lower price that was perfect for our budget. The one drawback was that we occasionally experienced some confusion around where our tasks ended and hers began, but as with anything, practicing clear and proactive communication around roles, responsibilities, and expectations was key in keeping everyone on track.

Shi is very warm, thoughtful, and detail-oriented and cares deeply about her clients. As an example, we had a few pre-wedding festivities, including a tea ceremony, that we invited her to as a guest, with no expectation that she would do any coordinating there. When our host struggled a bit to organize everyone for group pictures, Shi didn't hesitate to jump in and help sort everyone into the right group photos. We hope that doesn't set the bar too high for her in future client interactions, but just wanted to share that as an illustration of the degree to which she cares about ensuring a great wedding experience for her clients and their friends and family.

Shi planned and coordinated a wedding I attended this weekend, and let me tell you-- Shi is ON TOP OF IT.

Shi has the amazing ability to coordinate a wedding day with grace and calmness that causes everyone there to feel at ease and enjoy the day. As a photographer, I have worked alongside dozens of coordinators and planners, and Shi's work really stands out. If I was planning my wedding, I would feel very confident hiring her.

Run, don't walk, to hire Shi as your event planner! Shi is an absolutely incredible human and phenomenal at what she does. She made our wedding day better than anything we could have possibly dreamed. In every stage of planning she is very organized, communicative, professional, and kind. She has such wonderful ideas and her execution of the plans is top-tier. It was such a relief to have her as our guide, cheerleader, and friend throughout the entire process. We can't imagine having gone through the planning and wedding without her. Truly, she is so reliable and talented. She works so hard and is very detail-oriented. She is collaborative and adaptable. When we needed her direction and guidance, she was there. She anticipated our needs and suggested date nights and relaxation breaks. I can't emphasize or speak highly enough about Shi as both a person and as our wedding planner. A few of our guests may or may not have proposed to her as well (that's how wonderful she is)(: We had guests from all over the U.S. and from Norway, and the ones who aren't married yet said they want to fly her out to plan their weddings, because that's how great she is. We love Shi so much as are so eternally grateful for all she did for us. Hire her for your event planning, it will be the best decision (besides marrying your partner) you will ever make!!!

We're a photography/videography team that recently worked with Shi as the planner at a wedding. She had us looped into the planning process with the bride and groom from shortly after we booked with them until the morning of the wedding. At the event, she had herself and an assistant that were always running around making sure every aspect of the wedding was ready to go, going according to plan, or being cleaned up. They had answers to all of our questions and were always checking in to see if we needed anything. We could not have asked for a more seamless, detail-oriented, excited-to-be-there planner to work with. We'd highly recommend her to any of our couples.

We were so fortunate to have Shi as our day of coordinator!
