I’m Emma!

My love for photography started when I was younger. I was given a hand-me-down 35-millimeter camera where I embraced the art of film photography and started capturing landscapes and candid portraits. In high school, my passion for photography blossomed where I was able to process my film and images in a dark room. As digital photography came swooping in I quickly picked up on the manual features as it mimicked the functions of my old 35 millimeter. I remember the first digital camera that I saved up for. Drooling over the reviews and dreaming of the day I could hold it in my hands. That was the moment my hobby and love for photography transformed into my motivation to make my love my career. Photography is more than point and shoot, it is to evoke emotion and pull the story into focus.

THIS IS WHY I LOVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY!

Let me explain, when I first meet the couple generally we are strangers meeting for the first time in a coffee shop to talk about the future plans and we get to know each other a little bit. Then we schedule the engagement shoot where we break the ice before the wedding. I Love engagements shoots because it’s really when I get to know the couple. I ask about their love story, we tell jokes, and have fun! Usually, at the start of the session, there is one person who feels uncomfortable with the “whole picture thing”. Most times that person becomes a supermodel transformed and is now ready for their wedding day.

When Jena and I arrive on the wedding day we are welcomed as friends, we are no longer strangers. Wedding day photography is so much more to me than showing up and clicking away. Stress can take away from all the fun beautiful memories that should be made on a wedding day. I want to give my couples a stress-free experience providing any assistance to them or their vendors. When a couple chooses Emma Miller Photography for their wedding day photographers they are hiring a team that will be in their corner making sure their wishes and dreams are heard and created. Our goal is to leave the evening where our couples are blissfully happy and their wedding day has been all they dreamt about and we have met or exceeded their expectations.

After the wedding festivities are over, and months or years pass I am always so pleased to receive the “We’re becoming parents will you capture our family portraits”. So then the beauty continues and I have the pleasure of following this family grow.

Now we can laugh about the strangers meeting for the first time in a coffee shop before our adventure even started.
