Book with caution! Wedding was nearly ruined
We are writing this review to protect other couples from the experience we had at our wedding. What follows is a factual account, corroborated by our wedding coordinator, venue staff (bartenders and food service), and approximately 90 of our wedding guests who witnessed these events firsthand.
FROM THE MOMENT HE ARRIVED:
Upon arrival, he immediately attempted to change the entire layout of our reception area — a setup that had already been carefully planned by everyone involved — because he felt his placement "would sound better." He insisted on positioning himself between the bride/groom table and our guests, and refused to adjust his own setup to accommodate the existing arrangement. His sound quality was notably poor — multiple guests independently described it as muffled, as if the music was coming through a wall. After he left, the venue's standard backup Bluetooth speaker actually sounded better. He also plugged into an electrical outlet he had been explicitly told by our wedding coordinator not to use, and made a comment to our guests that he had driven three hours to be there while the venue was in his advertised service area — completely unprofessional.
FIRST DANCE:
We provided our song list well in advance via email, which he confirmed and replied to with the full playlist. For our first dance, he began playing the song, stopped it, and announced over the microphone to our entire reception: "That's the short version, let me get the longer one." What followed was over a minute of complete silence while we stood in front of all of our guests. He then played a live/bootleg version of our song — not the studio recording we had requested of a well-known, widely available James Taylor song. My spouse and I ended up singing our own first dance song ourselves. This moment is documented in photos, video, and the accounts of nearly every guest present.
THROUGHOUT RECEPTION:
— He handed us a microphone for toasts at the wrong time, despite having the written itinerary, leaving us stunned and unprepared in front of our guests.
— After the best man and bridesmaid speeches, he left complete silence with no music and no direction, requiring us to intervene.
— There were multiple other silent gaps throughout the evening where no music was played and no effort was made to fill the void.
— During buffet, rather than calling tables one at a time as is standard practice, he released multiple tables simultaneously, and while other tables were still getting food creating a chaotic, crowded situation that numerous guests noted.
— Songs we had specifically requested — confirmed in writing — were not played until we forwarded him his own confirmation email during our reception.
— He was rude to our wedding coordinator and her staff, per her own written account.
HIS RESPONSE TO OUR COMPLAINTS:
When we emailed him with these concerns and requested a refund, he did not apologize or offer any resolution. Instead, he threatened us with civil legal action and advised us not to post reviews, suggesting it would be "defamation." Truthful reviews of a business are not defamation. We are posting this review so that no other couple has to experience what we did on one of the most important days of their lives.
Our wedding coordinator has documented her concerns in writing and recommended we seek a refund. We have email confirmation of our song requests, a coordinator's written account, venue staff witnesses, and the accounts of nearly 100 wedding guests.
