Hi, my name is Isaac. I've been finding a path to mastery that goes beyond the competition.
My approach:
Its a tailor-made experience that is meant to feel special.
I've had many years in event planning, in audio engineering, MCing and DJing, which is a very rare combination. It's a huge quadruple threat that fills all the holes in a DJ's palette.
Because of this I can bring a very holistic vision, not just in the audio aspect but in the planning aspect.
Many times there is a big disconnect between an event planner and a DJ that causes them to butt heads. Just like a building designer draws without the engineer in mind, an event planner makes a timeline that bottlenecks the momentum of the party for the guests and the DJ, just by how its structured!
With couples I DJ for, I can completely take control from beginning to end and lead the entire event seamlessly. I can't tell you the amount of times the wedding coordinator just sat back and watched me run the show. And they got paid a lot!
The rate you pay is spent on results and talent, and not on the overwhelming amount of gear and toys that DJs bring.
A DJ may charge you an arm and a leg because of all the items they have to lug with them, but not necessarily because the abilities they are providing are worth that price.
I like to bring everything you can possibly need and nothing more. The simpler the setup, the cleaner it looks and the more classy and elegant it is. (and the less you pay for bloat)
When playing music, DJs love to play what they want. They have a "style" they stick to. My approach is to find the delicate balance between playing all the songs the couple wants, while finding the right songs that will keep the dance floor packed.
How the experience looks like :
1. We have an in-person or phone meeting and get on the same page of what youre planning for the wedding, and I give ideas and tips to really make it more fun or more organized.
If you have no idea and are starting at ground zero, in one phone call we create a complete timeline by asking you questions on what you're looking to have. I give fresh ideas that you can choose from with different approaches to different formalities, and fun ways to implement the goals you're looking for in a seamless way. I answer in depth all the questions you may about the evening.
We talk music and how we can make it a personalized experience, how we can fit that in not just the Ceremony and Dance Floor, but in the cocktail hour and Dinner as well.
I send an agreement and a deposit request to make sure we agree on fair and easy terms.
2. A 2nd followup call or meet later:
At this stage you send playlists and songs for the formalities
We go into depth about many details you probably havent thought about, so no stone is left unturned. Its very easy to miss details, and I see it happen with wedding planners all the time. (who is in charge of the extra bouquet used for the toss, who has the knife or table for the cake cutting? The list goes on.)
Talk different protocols so there are no surprises and we are all on the same page. For example, what do I do when a song is on the must-play list but I sense that it will kill the dance floor or it just did? Do I keep it playing or skip it for the sake of the crowd? But which songs are absolutely non-negotiable?
Or what to do when someone wants to make a request. It can be very nuanced. It can depend who is asking! And can depend on what the request is! Do I give them the option to ask the bride or groom if its okay, or just find a nice way to say no?
We do this for several topics, and these are taken very seriously, noted and highlighted so there is a 0% chance of the bride and groom feeling like "he didnt do what we talked about" or that there was any misunderstandings.
We talk about timing of the songs for the formalities and I can give different options and approaches to them to achieve different results.
3. The Wedding must feel seamless
All the work is done ahead of time so now its just time to sit back and relax.
I will arrive 2 hours early for setup.
I check for perfect volume levels, angle of sound, test the songs to make sure everything is perfect. I set the sound settings to sound good for the venue because every venue has a different sound. (this is where my audio engineering background comes in)
I stay tuned in communication with the photo/video people so that no formality is done without them being completely ready for it.
10 minutes before each formality I give a heads up to everyone involved, and gather people when needed.
Everything is executed beginning to end, and we finish the night. And if I did my job right, a packed dance floor.
