My husband and I could not have found a better location for our wedding. Dering Harbor Inn, on Shelter Island is nestled between the north and south forks and offers picturesque views, a laid back vibe, and natural beauty that can truly not be compared. Our family and bridal party all stayed on the grounds at the inn the whole weekend . Our celebration began with a stunning sunset cocktail reception on Friday afternoon which kicked off our rehearsal. Saturday we had a magical afternoon outdoor ceremony on the bluff, followed by our tent reception just steps away all overlooking the harbor. The grounds offer everything one can want for an outdoor waterfront setting with numerous locations for perfect pictures. All of our guests wouldn’t stop talking all night about how beautiful the venue was and what a perfect setting for a large event such as ours. Sherri, the Inn Manager, was extremely helpful, very prompt to respond to any questions we had and couldn't have made it easier for us to hold our event there. Sherri was understanding, easy to work with, and the Inn was beautifully prepared to host our 200+ guest wedding.

We held our wedding here a couple summers ago. A fantastic venue for our reception! The pictures don't even do it justice. The lawn (the "bluff") is a great location and has an amazing view of the entire harbor. Really unbelievable. The bluff also has plenty of room for the main tent, cocktail tent, kitchen tent, and even a large band - with plenty of room left over for cocktails on the lawn overlooking the harbor. We even arranged to arrive at the location by boat, landing at the dock and walking up the path to greet our guests. It was also very convenient for our guests, most of whom stayed there at the Inn's condo units.

Overall, just a really wonderful location that made it a great night!

I looked at many wedding venues in the Hamptons and can honestly say Dering Harbor is hands down the most beautiful wedding venue there is. The bluff, the boats in the harbor, the sunset - there is nothing like it. Our guests were blown away and nearly everyone said the night felt magical. The manager Sherri and Barbara in the office were terrific resources throughout the wedding planning - from introducing us to the priest, to handling all our guest reservations (that changed multiple times), to running to the post office the day of the wedding to get my table numbers. Everything is very personal and intimate - you feel like you are getting married at your best friend's house not at a hotel. Some people might be discouraged because they think Shelter Island is difficult to get to, but many of our guests stayed in Greenport and it was very easy to coordinate transportation back and forth. The only reason I took .5 points off is that it is probably more expensive than other venues when you consider all the rentals that are required, but in my opinion it's worth it. Many thanks to Dering Harbor for making our wedding day the best day of our lives! My husband and I look forward to celebrating many anniversaries at Dering Harbor for years to come.
